From 220mbps (ISH) to well over 500mpbs
I bought this in Amazon warehouse house and probably had around 30% discount henze the 5*s.First off it's unbelievably light that I've just installed a WiFi card that was heavier and it does feel very cheaply made but like I said it was well discounted so can't complain.Product review. As a router I can't give a review as I use this as part of an ai mesh system with another Asus router which is not the same model and is alot more expensive but as a PC I use was in a bit of a dead zone I needed something to get a better connection and that is something that it did do well .The Asus B650e motherboard struggled to 200mbps. I have an Asus router app on my phone which allowed me to easily set this as part of the mesh system.. go into app / select ai mesh / scan for device/ select this router ...and let it set things up. I then moved it upstairs plugged it I beside my pc and I've probably added over 300mbps upload/download speeds to my mesh set up.As a router I don't doubt this will work for most people as a router and all Asus routers seem to work off the same app and there are loads of YouTube videos on how this is done which is the main reason I moved to Asus in the first place as the company I signed up to for broadband use an eero system and it requires a subscription just to have family protection and Asus software is free and has VPN support

Used as an AiMesh node
Early days of the install, but really happy so far.I bought this to use as an AiMesh node alongside a TUF-AX4200 router, as its wifi struggled to penetrate the thick walls of an extension we have.I have ethernet 1G haulback up into the loft, and then down into a little alcove in one of the bedrooms, the picture is taken from the ground and the router is wall mounted vertically. It is very light, and has two hanging points.Setup was easy, however, if you plan on an ethernet haulback, then I do suggest doing this with the short patch lead provided in the same room as the router. (Note for setup…WAN port connection on node, and LAN port connector on main router). The Asus configuration page/app made it easy to link the devices up in a few moments. As a result, I now have 500mbps+ wifi in the bedroom, whereas before it was struggling to actually stay latched onto wifi. It was especially a problem with the Samsung 32” smart tv on 2.4GHz, but not any more.It is easy to bind certain fixed devices to the AP, which is great for reducing airwave congestion, and maintaining the best signal. My main reason for purchasing this was it is £25 cheaper than a plug in mesh node, but in addition, I now have a backup router, and more ports available for ethernet into the bedrooms.Yes it is ‘slower’ being an older version of wifi6, but the speed capabilities exceeds the limits of my FTTP fibre package, so this will do for a few years yet.For me I now get a better signal out on the drive and in the garden, so range has definitely improved.I have turned off all of the flashing LED’s in the config page, the unit doesn’t seem to be heating up. Firmware update was a doddle.

Fixes the crap hub 3.0 from virgin
After years of trying to improve my poor virgin WiFi with various methods that worked in a limited capacity my father in law suggested one of these. He uses a higher end Asus router for gaming. I just wanted stable consistent WiFi throughout my home which is a 3 bed extended terrace. I wasn't dissaponted. This router was giving me speeds around same as hardwire connection throughout most of the house. (bathroom slightly lower) I was that impressed I brought a second one and put it in the extention and added it to the mesh which was easy through the app. I now have WiFi at speeds of around 250mbps down 2/3 of my 30m garden aswell.

Easy to connect with mobile APP if adding as an AI node to an established ASUS network setup.
Excellent piece of kit. I've installed this in a bedroom, and it is part of an AI Asus mesh network. Easy to set up once I realised that WPS needs enabling on the AI master router while in setup mode.ASUS product support were really good and explained to me my error, as WPS was not enabled when I initially set the router up, and I thought the router was defective. We now have three ASUS RT AX series routers in the home, and the bandwidth and connection speeds are phenomenal.Plus, free VPN and embedded software on the router are fantastic. The APP is really simple to use on an Android phone to manage basic tasks, and the GUI on the router admin page is really well thought out and idiot-proof (for someone like me), who needs to tweak settings but really hasn't got a clue what they all mean.

Frustrating setup then VERY poor WiFi
Connected up and downloaded app as per instructions. All appeared to go well and the app reported all was set up and good to go.Was it heck. BT ONT showing three steady lights and the app was showing internet and wifi OK. Great but would it connect devices to the internet?.....NO!I was a little troubled that at no time was I asked to input Broadband user name and password.Long story short. Some 2-3 hours and several factory resets later, and at one point app told me to go to web interface (this was impossible on a Laptop and having no ethernet to USB C adapter).....More factory resets and eventually when confirming PPoe I finally got the chance to enter the broadband user and Password........Bingo All working!I was a happy bunny even if somewhat fed up.Now the deal breaker. I was looking forward to the great WiFi reported by many users and reviews comparing the Asus with BT SH 2 and saying that the Asus was a great improvement.I was really disapointed.BT SH2 330Mbs next to Router Asus75BT SH2 15 ft away 160 Asus 25BT SH Upstairs 50 Asus 12It will be no surprise to the reader as to which router is powering my network and which is awaiting collection by the postie.TP Link (my third) next time

Do not buy for Mesh system
May work well as a router, it would not connect as AI Mesh, so returned.

Hasn’t let me down!
I needed a replacement for my ASUS RT-66NU had served me well for over 10 years and I opted for this ASUS RT-AX52 router - superb - easy to setup (although I work in IT so knew what specific options I wanted) and all working a treat, really pleased.
