4 to 5 Ton 18 SEER Variable Speed MrCool Universal Central Heat Pump Split System - Upflow/Horizontal with Quick Connect Lineset - 35 Feet

My third MRCool.I had installed two MrCool DIY minisplit systems, both with excellent results. I trust this precharged technology more than a professional solder, vacuum, and charge system. In fact one of those minisplits was to replace a pioneer minsplit, professionally installed, that leaked.I figured, as with the DIY minisplit, the hardest part was done for me. The most difficult part left I expected would be the plenum/ductwork hookup. But I recognized that constructing a plenum would require basic skills. I was right.I was totally surprised by the quality construction of this MrCool, compared to the Lennox this 5 ton system replaced. It is a work of real craftsmanship. It is significantly heavier than the old one, both the air handler and the condensing unit, so get some help.MrCool support was very responsive in answering some questions on three occasions. They were great. I see complaints about this and windered because my previous experience with the minisplits and support was fantastic as well.I am totally sold on this concept. Be aware that the majority of HVAC technicians see this as a threat since their industry is highly protective. There are a very few who are willing to work with you if you must have help. I think MrCool can even help with that if necessary. I saved myself over $5000 for sure. And got a rockin' system to boot. For $10k I'd have gotten crap.I hooked this thing up and it ran like a tank. Works well, better than any system I've had in thirty years in this house. The condensing unit is very, very quiet compared to the Lennox. The air handler blows much stronger that the previous. It cools off quick and efficiently.Thank you, MrCool!

I only take time to review if I really think a product is exceptional or I hate it. This product delivers everything the literature promised at a great price. The instructions were very good and everything worked without even a support call. Couple of things to be aware of, first it’s big and heavy. I have a tractor and was able to use it to move the compressor to a pedestal behind my garage and lift the air handler to a shelf in my garage. I have a ducted system from my old gas packaged unit on the roof so I had to do all the ducting. That was the hardest part of the whole job. Secondly you also need to purchase a thermostat, I choose the Sensi smart and I’m totally happy with how well they work together. It’s been almost 110 here for the last week and it keeps cool and you can’t even here the compressor or the air handler inside the house. The MrCool hardware is definitely high quality and I’m sure it’s going to perform well for a long time.

I purchased the Mr Cool 4/5 ton system about 6 weeks ago. I originally had planned to have this system professionally installed and had tentatively arraigned with a local company to do the job. However, after the equipment was delivered we started having extreme heat in my area. The company, do to workload postponed the install.My 20 plus year old system took this time to completely go down. I had ordered the diy package so I started the install. Actually it was pretty simple to do, I was replacing an old sytem and the wiring was already in place. I had to buy some new equipment for me to set the air handler and condenser in place but setting the equipment and attaching the line sets only took 4 days. It took almost 2 days to fabricate a transition duct to connect the air handler to my old duct work.After the system was ready everything worked as it was supposed to and I really like this new system. It's VERY quiet and takes much less time to bring the temp to the setting on the thermostat. So far, so good, highly recommend this brand......update...Dec 23, 2022....During the "cold snap" the temps here in central Oklahoma in the last two days have been a low of 4 degrees to 15 degrees. I set the thermostat on my Mr Cool 4/5 ton a/c heat pump to 72 degrees. This unit has not varied from the set temp by more than 1 degree. I think this settles the arguement about the performance of the unit in cold temperatures.....At least it ha for me...update....1/17/24....I thought I would update my review now....It has been below freezing for the past 112 hours here in central Oklahoma. This is the second winter since my install and report that the system has not failed to maintain the set temperature +/- 2 degrees. I'm a little older and get cold easier. I set the temp for 74 degrees and it has kept this setting these past 5 days. The outside temp here has beem between 3 to 17 degrees.....

Installed September of 2023. Evaporator coil sprung a leak around January-Feb of 2025. Mr Cool customer service is ok, but under their warranty they only send refurbished parts. The first coil was damaged in shipment due to terrible packaging, so I refused it. The second coil arrived with no packaging around it.

Mr cool is a great company but Jacks is the worst. We had guys waiting to install the unit for 2 weeks, ended up costing us extra because Jacks apparently doesn't know how to manage deliveries. Received the unit 12 days after it should have arrived.
