I have only had this mat for about a month now so take that into account when reading this review. So far I really enjoy this play mat, the colors are good and the details are pretty sharp. It works well for both jungle terrain and woodland terrain depending on how you dress it up. The vinyl seems to be pretty durable and hasn't scratched or creased as of yet. I haven't tried using wet erase markers on it yet like they say you can, so I have no idea how well it comes off. However the price and size for this mat are awesome and I am looking at purchasing more of there mats going forward.The one and only thing keeping me from rating this 5 stars is that it reflects light a lot. Now if you are looking at it from most angles it wont matter but about about 30% of the time when you are moving around the mat adjusting your minis you will see whatever light sources you have in the nearby area glaring back at you. Outside of that its really good.If the folks over at Evolve Skins are reading this let me say this...If you can fix the glare issue and started offering them as double sided with something like cobblestone on one side and moss on the other I would likely be throwing a lot more of my money your way, just a thought.

It's a good quality mat with a competitive price. I own about a half dozen mats of different sizes and makes, and with this I got exactly what I wanted. The design is nice, it looks realistic on scale without being so busy it distracts you.A few tips on the biggest issues that others have reported:1. The glare. Yes it has a reflective surface, and depending on the lights you're under it can range from slight to extreme. To tone it down a bit you can spray a matte sealer over the printed surface. Just be sure to do this outdoors, when it's not too hot or humid to avoid getting a frosted finish.2. Edges roll up. This isn't too bad, it will settle down well enough after laying flat for ten minutes or so. To minimize the effect, be sure to roll it up with the printed side OUT; this makes the edges curl down towards the surface which definitely helps.

So I buy this for Warhammer, which often requires you to divide the playing field evenly into 1/2, 1/3, and 1/6. Assuming the grid was close enough but upon reviewing the full grid size, the edge of the board is only 3/4" which accounts for 1.5 inches of that 6 and 4 feet to not be used. So the center of my board is directly in the center of a cube. In other words: there is an odd number of squares on the grid with a small border on the mat where there are no squares.My question is why not make the full length the grid OR why not make the borders an actual inch. Not very useful when the width of the board has an uneven number of squares. 45 I counted.Glare is not that bad and the quality and color is great. Just depressed that I need to mark up perfectly symmetrical lines because the boarder was half arsed. Those lines degrade the entire function in my opinion.

This is a decent looking vinyl mat. It's not overly-busy, nor is it plain. It provides a great backdrop for tabletop gaming, and does a fine job of sprucing up my DIY 6x4 game table. Observations:As others have mentioned, there is glare if you have overhead lights (as I suspect nearly every gamer will). I don't find the glare to be overly harsh, but I suppose this is a necessity to protect the mat. The manufacturer should consider other finishing alternatives if it wants to compete with more premium mats... I'd have gladly paid a few extra bucks for a duller finish.The mat is SUPER easy to trim down to a smaller size, which was necessary for my "standard" game table. I flipped it over, drew my line on the backside, then scored with a razor blade. It cuts perfectly, and still looks like it just came out of the tube.The mat seems slightly thin compared to other gaming mats I've used... not as thick as a Chessex, nor quite as flexible. I've done nothing other than lay it over my table, so I can't speak to scratch resistance. Then again, if you're using sharp, pointy gaming pieces, or dragging your minis spear-down across the surface you're probably doing something wrong.

When I ordered this I was concerned the vinyl might be thin and flimsy. I considered ordering a neoprene mat but they are double or more the price and my budget is limited when it comes to gaming supplies. So I went ahead and gave this a shot and I'm glad I did. While I'd love to pick up a nice, thick neoprene mat one of these days, this thing is great for now. I haven't had it long or had a chance to do much gaming yet but upon examination I'm confident that with minimal, common sense care it will not tear or crease or otherwise be damaged during normal use. The mat came rolled up but was easily unrolled and flattened. The material appears to be quite durable and it is heavy enough that once unrolled it flattens out pretty quickly. Just a few minutes with a book on each corner to hold it down and the mat stays flattened out on its own. For the price, I highly recommend it.
