Great Product! Great Value!
Not only is this pump an excellent product and keeps my aquarium clean, but the price online at Amazon is a lot less than PetSmart or Petco.

Not made for a normal turtle tank
I bought this for my red eared slider's tank. Normally this wouldn't work in a turtle tank, but I added a basking dock to the top of the tank. So the entire tank is full of water with tons of swimming area. You have to be able to have the water line very high in the tank for this filter to work.

Disappointing...
So I bought this filter for my 40 gallon tank. I needed something that I thought would over filter my tank, since I do have a variety of fish stocked. Well the 1st filter arrived BROKEN.... so it was tedious to have to wait an additional week to get the replacement sent out. When it finally arrived, I assembled it & cleaned it before I added it to my tank. Once I had it set up I initially thought it was doing a great job until it wasn't. I noticed that the water started to flow less and less, so my thought was maybe it had collected gunk so I'd clean out the filter to make sure the water could flow through.... nope that wasn't the issue. I checked the tube and made sure it was sitting nice and tight... didn't fix the problem. The water levels were at the correct level, since the filter shows a line where it requires the water level to be. I started to feel very disappointed because the price is pretty steep for such a problematic and flimsy filter. I use tetra filters in my other aquariums (I have a total of 6) which don't cause problems; as long as they're maintenance regularly. Anyways, months went by and I kept experiencing issues, by this time my return window had closed. I went as far as switching the type of media I was using, thinking it would have an easier flow, but nothing worked for me. Eventually by October 2024, the filter just stopped working. I took it apart and checked everything and didn't find anything wrong. I let the impeller sit in water for a few days to see if that was the issue and still nothing. When I would plug it in, it didn't even seem to be on. I gave up and tossed it out. This filter really sucked for me. Maybe I just had bad luck and ended up with a faulty one but I won't be buying this type again. For now I've just kept my tank filtering with the sponge filters and have been shopping around for a different filter. So bottom line, I definitely do not recommend this filter. Buy at your own risk...

Nice Filters
These are nice filters. I'll go over the pro's and cons and why this is a 4 star vs 5.Pros: Great flow, internal pump so no need to worry about a power outage, can handle a decent sized tank, two on my 55g are more than enough.Cons: Its not quiet, if the water in your tank is low you'll hear the waterfall very much so which is typical of any HOT, but the pump's are not quiet on top of it, so even with a high water in your tank the pump's are still rather noisy in my opinion.Overall assessment, if the pump's were quiet these filters would be a no brainer. I will continue to run them due to keeping things really clean, but the noise is annoying at times.

Is very loud
This filter worked great when I first started using it in May with it cleaning my axolotls tank but it was never "whisper" quiet in the slightest. We try to keep the water level pretty high to prevent the splash noise but it still sounds like a regular filter. With that being said, it started leaking out of no where and we only realized bc we went to clean under our media center that the tank sits on and realized there was a puddle which was alarming. We cleaned it and set it back on the tank carefully to see if maybe it was the way it was placed the previous time, left a grey hand towel under it and waited. Sure enough within the week the towel was completely doused (used a grey towel to see the contrast of the water). Apart from that it felt like the filters got dirty faster each time even when we used an extra filter sponge as well in order to help with the yuck. It's bulky and the pipes are flimsy to stay attached. We only feed our axolotl worms as it's high protein and the best thing to feed them so there hadn't been a change in diet for the filter to continue to decline in it's effectiveness. This is with us cycling half the water regularly, siphoning the poop and switching the filters regularly as well. Ended up purchasing a different filter bc of the noise but in the end I realized it just had to be replaced bc of all the other issues as well
