I liked how sturdy this platform felt. It was relatively heavy and felt like good construction. No instructions came with it but it's pretty self-explanatory. Just be careful when mounting to leave the top opening wide enough to fold the steps into or you will be drilling more holes than you want to. Only used it once so far at the beach but it performed well and allowed for easy access between the boat and the water.

I thought the step was easy to install and works great.I've had the boat over 40 years and it is so good to have help to get into the boat.

Nice ladder for my 18ft boat. Very sturdy and folds up neatly. Very well made.

Fiberglass work on the platform is subpar. The bottom needs to be fixed due to lazy craftsmanship. Uneven edges had to be ground down. Gap between the fiberglass and gel coat has to be filled. The gel coat is thin in spots and is see through. Not to mention there were no directions included.

Very well made, just very heavy. Had to return it because of weight since it was going on a skiff, but craftsmanship was top notch.

First the good. This step and handles are extremely high quality. Other reviews have said the step is heavy, I was shocked at how heavy. The step is really solid, you are never going to break this step. If your boat is broadsided by a aircraft carrier, the step will survive unscathed.Now for the bad. I received the step and parts in a crushed destroyed box which was inside of a nice Amazon box. I was concerned that I was going to be looking at damaged parts when I opened it but (see above) given how beefy these parts are, there was no damage. There ALSO wasn't any instructions on how to install this thing. Zero. Hardware, parts, that's it. I was fairly certain I could figure it out but I would have liked to have some information on how high above water line etc that it should have been mounted. I had to spend a fair amount of time online watching other people installing steps to answer the waterline question. The next bad thing about this is that they included hardware and the hardware didn't fit the parts. Its very obvious that the four phillips head screws were to attach the step to the handles, except that they were too short to engage any of the threads on the nut. So off to the hardware store to buy different stainless screws. I installed the handles to the step and tightened everything down. Next I located it to the transom and marked where the holes would be drilled. That went fine and I was able to attach it to the boat. When I went to unfold the ladder I couldnt unfold because the handles weren't square. Unbeknownst to me, when I tightened one side the handle wasn't at a perfect right angle to the step. It was off 1/2" which meant I couldnt unfold the step because the right handle was canted in too far. So I had to take the entire thing apart and drill ANOTHER hole in my transom and remount it. I'm not sure if the missing instructions would have said to tighten the handle and check for 90 degrees with a square, but it definitely should. Of course that is a non issue as I didn't get any instructions and was flying by the seat of my pants. Now i have an extra hole in my transom, and an irritation level at 10.Buy the step, its definitely high quality, but know you are going to need to buy your own hardware and you'll need to figure waterline placement and all that on your own. Note, make sure your handles are 90 degrees to the step before drilling. Its not obvious when they are off a little and if you screw that up, you wont be able to unfold the step.
