Numbers: An Introduction and Commentary (Volume 4) (Tyndale Old Testament Commentaries)

This commentary is the perfect example of why I simultaneously love Wenham's writing, but dislike the Tyndale series' constrictive format. All while reading, I kept feeling that I was only seeing the tip of the iceberg of what insights Wenham had on a particular passage, and found myself wishing that they had just let him write another hundred or so pages.The commentary is solidly conservative, and particularly strong on literary observations. This is a great book for someone who wants a quick overview of Numbers, but those looking for a more "in-depth" coverage of the details will need something a little bigger to go along with it.

This product was listed as a hardcover, and when it came in as a paperback I was initially disappointed. This commentary was so good. I bought it after reading Dr. Wenham's amazing NICOT Leviticus commentary. You will not regret reading this book.

Tyndale OT commentaries are all easy to understand and good resources.

The author gave a very detailed explanation of the relationship between events in this book with similar events in Exodus. He also pointed out that some of the actions that seem very strange to us in 2015 were commonly accepted by people of that era, by both Jews and pagans.

It is helping me in my bible study class.

Everything that falls from the quill of Wenham is worthy of our consideration. This commentary is no exception.
