Challenging but worth it.
Husband has this series and loves it. Very very difficult but he likes the challenge.

Great Sudoku book for people who find most Sudoku books to be too easy
Over 200 puzzles, answers in the back. Almost all the puzzles use special techniques in order to solve, so it's much more entertaining than filling in numbers mindlessly. You actually have to think, sometimes do a puzzle several times in order to understand the technique needed to solve. This is not an absolutely monster book, in terms of difficulty. But it will certainly make you a better puzzler if you can get through it.

The best sudoku book around. Hard puzzles, great spiral binding

Absolutely Nasty Sudoku Level 3
This book and its siblings (Levels 1, 2 and 4) are, in my opinion, the best Sudoku puzzle books out there. They are, in fact, SO GOOD, that as my husband and I work our way through them, I keep reordering Levels 3 and 4, which are the levels that challenge us the most. Other things I love are the ring binding, the large-sized puzzles (2 per page), and the quality of paper, which helps with erasures. These levels are not for the neophyte. If you have not mastered higher techniques in solving Sudoku puzzles, carefully back away.

Love this series!
How exciting to receive Level 4 today! Yes, I am up for the challenge! I would have paid more money to have the spiral binding and the better quality white paper, hence 4 stars vs 5. It's simply easier to manage. Did I overlook the spiral version?

Exceptional mind twister
I am a Sudoku freak and have been struggling to find puzzles that are even more perplexing. The Mensa Nasty Sudoku Series is a great bundle of trouble that truly makes my brain hurt. Sudoku is such a fabulous way to learn focusing techniques as well as training one's mind in logical thought processes. The easy way out of a Sudoku hexagram is to guess. But where is the fun in that? These are puzzles that build with exciting and suspenseful ways to problem solve, making me have the illusion of being smarter than I really am.Please purchase this series if you are ready to learn new things and resist the temptation to find an easy way out of a situation. What a metaphor for life! Thank you Frank Longo and Amazon!

Good Challenge
Increasing level of difficulty. Learned a lot, but there is no guidance or instruction.. High quality paper & lie-flat coil spine.

top
das sind wirklich gute Sudokus, nasty, nasty! Level 1 bekomme ich gelöst, bei level 3 sind es nur gut die Hälfte. Für diesen level sollte man sich einige fortgeschrittene Techniken aneignen.

The only choice
If you are finding most of the puzzles in the newspapers too easy and are looking for something more challenging then as far as I am concerned this series is the only choice. Admittedly this first book is quite easy and doesn't require techniques more difficult than naked trebles or x wings but as you go through the series it increases steadily in difficulty so your are able to judge your improvement. By the beginning of book 2 more advanced techniques are needed like xy and xyz wings and then book 3 introduces swordfish and forcing chains etc. Having solved all the puzzles in books 1 to 3 I am now on book 4 and so far haven't been able to solve any so it looks like it's back to the drawing board. If you need help rather than looking at the answer I would highly recommend "Pauls Pages" sudoku website which will give you clues and so help you to work out the answers for yourself.I should add that the quality of the paper is excellent so there is no problem using a rubber as there is with some books with flimsy paper. I also find having a spiral binder a great help as the page not being used can be folded back completely out of the way.

Challenging but need a more tougher and higher version!!
Brought this for my dad who loves sudoku. He is a retired Indian Civil service officer who loves any brain challenging puzzles. He is on the verge of finishing this. He said it was challenging but not that tough for the Man who cracked civil service in single chance. Going to order the next higher version for him soon.
