does this work for the original fit bit flex?

It "works" (fits) but not as well as I wanted. It is because of the difference in movement.

How do I get the thing open to put thefitbit it??

You can open it partially in the bottom (enough space to insert the fitbit pill), and it has a magnet in the bottom so it closes well.

Will this also fit the Fitbit Inspire 2?

no, it is specifically for the FLEX 2, an older model which I had. I popped it in, but couldn't get it out - I finally did, and broke my FLEX 2. I would not recommend this piece. Do not try it with any other slim model.
