**UPDATE - I wrote the below originally but am very satisfied with how proactive customer service was. I was originally just going to return it and get a refund but customer service reached out to me a day after I had initiated my return (not sure if it was coincidental) and refunded me the money even before receiving the product back. They also explained that it might have been the batch that I had been given, which may be the case. A+ for customer service.I read one review that said that there was some nasty chemical smell to this pillow, but all the other reviews never mentioned it so I figured why not try this pillow since it's hypoallergenic. I was looking for a king-sized pillow that was fluffy, provides adequate head support, and that blocked dust mites since I have very bad allergies to dust/dust mites. However, I encountered the same thing with there being a very bad smell to the pillow with my husband asking me why my hair smelled strange and bad in the morning. After having slept on the pillow (with my own linen pillow cover on it as well), the smell had seeped into my hair and made it smell like the pillow - and this is not a new product smell or a plasticy smell; I don't know how to describe it but it just does not smell good. I even washed the pillow case that came with this twice as well as my own pillow cover, and fluffed the pillow itself in low heat (as per the instructions) and the smell is still there. I'm going to have to return this due to the smell. Plus it is not supportive enough for me as I used to have a pillow that was a continuous block of memory foam and provided lots of neck support. This pillow kind of caves in and slants the way I tend to sleep more near the bottom of the pillow. Therefore, that part doesn't work for me and I will need to get a different pillow.I didn't think about any of these things so much until I started having all these problems with this pillow. I guess I took all my old pillows for granted.

I really want to love these pillows, but I just can't... I really like them though, and here's why:These pillows and comfortable, and fluff right back up with a few "fluffs", but something about it doesn't feel quite right, and I can't put my finger on it. It's comfortable, but not as comfortable as they can be, or should be for the price. My girlfriend blames the amount of shredded foam that comes with it (she thinks it's too little), but I blame the quality of the foam... I think that's where the problem lies, although I'm no foam expert and I could be wrong. One thing I have to mention though; these pillows take some "breaking in". When I first slept on them, it was uncomfortable for about the first three weeks. It's been about two months now, and they feel more comfortable, though still not perfect.Packaging: It was packaged well, and was sealed really tight in double-plastic. Just unwrapping it is a hassle, which is great for shipping. I loved the packaging!The pillows fluffed right up after removing them from their packaging, and quickly was at full height/depth. I'd say, with a few "fluffs" these pillows got to their maximum fullness in less than 15 minutes.Now, let's talk about that chemical smell... This pillow has it, and it is strong! The good news is, the scent fades away relatively quickly. After 24 hrs, the scent was less than half as strong as it was when I first cut the plastic, although it was still pretty strong. It took me about 3 days before I could sleep on them without feeling overpowered by that chemical smell. It's strongly recommended that you wash the covers (which are excellent, by the way), and hang the pillows in the sun for about 24-48 hrs - it greatly helps with removing the chemical smell.Altgough I'm reasonably satisfied with these pillows, my hunt for the perfect pillow continues.

First, why this pillow is great:I bought it despite the 4/5 stars because I did my research and this was the best option in my opinion. I switch sleeping positions daily and all throughout the night (mostly I'm a side-sleeper, but sometimes I'll sleep on my back or stomach--it just depends, but whatever I choose, this pillow is the best). I've had my pillow for a little over a year and it's still my favorite pillow.Why some of the low-star reviews are deceiving and ridiculous:I was shocked at some of the reviews on the lower end of the scale because they're laughable. A lot of the low-star reviews talk about the packaging. Fact: you only have to open this ONCE. If you're struggling with the plastic, it sounds like a personal problem to me and I highly suggest investing in some scissors.Secondly, if someone has never purchased memory foam bedding, I could see how the chemical smell could be off-putting. It is going to have a new bedding/factory plastic/chemical smell when you first open it--it's unavoidable, even new mattresses have a similar smell, BUT it will air-out and go away after about a week (give or take). Also, it takes more like 3-5 hours to properly fluff up when it's first brought out of the package--again, not a big deal because you only have to do this once.Since I got mine, some of my friends have bought them and they're perfectly happy with the pillows. One of my friends never got her pillow (we suspect it was a stolen package--not the company's fault, because it was tracked and delivered) and she raved about the amazing customer service.Hopefully, this helped you narrow down your pillow choices.
