Casts Light Lures Effortlessly
Paired the Core 50MG7 with a Bass Pro Shop (BPS) medium lite CL66MLTF 6'6" rod. With this combo and 8lb Yozuri hybrid line, I'm easily, consistently, and accurately able to cast a 1/16 oz bitsy bug jig with a #3 Colorado spin blade trailer 50 to 60 feet into a five mph breeze. Casting light lures on this reel is so much fun, I don't care that I haven't caught any fish with it yet.Update: Switched the reel to a Temple Fork outfitters 7 foot medium light rod (SSC 703-1) rated for 4-10 lb test and 1/8 to 1/2 oz lure weight. Because the rod is 6" longer and has a more moderate tip than the BPS rod, I can cast 1/6 oz rooster tails 80 to 90 feet (10 yards further than with the BPS rod). With this outfit and the inline spinner, I've caught three small (10") bass, four good size blue gill, a couple of small crappie and a two pound channel cat fish. Since the rooster tail is the single hook variety and I bent down the barb, I was able to release the fish uninjured. BTW I have two opposite centrifugal brakes engaged and the spool tension knob just tight enough so there is no lateral spool movement. I plan to replace the dartainium drag washer with a carbon fiber washer.

It is super light and smooth casting
I don't believe that this reel is still in production. Can't understand why. It is super light and smooth casting. Mine is paired with a castaway 6'6" Donk. You can cast all day with ease.
