Took several coats to get to black
It took several coat to get to black, thought that it was brown at first, but looks good

Old and outdated
I purchased the “Dark Shadow” acid stain after carefully selecting my entire basement bar color scheme to match. Unfortunately, the product I received was clearly old or defective. The dark pigment had hardened into a rock at the bottom of the jug, and I only realized this after applying the stain. The result on my floor looked nothing like the advertised color. When I went to neutralize the stain with a baking soda mixture, there was no reaction at all—further proof the acid was no longer active. This was not a case of “slight color variation” that the company warns about; this was a completely different outcome caused by a product that was past its shelf life. Because of this, I now have to change my entire design, return other items I purchased to match, and spend more money fixing a problem that should never have happened. If the stain colors are going to be this inconsistent, the company should be more upfront. Putting “Dark Shadow” on the bottle while shipping out old, unusable product is misleading and disappointing. Buyers beware—you may not get what’s promised. If you can’t count on the color you purchase then don’t put colors on the bottles all together just send a note saying “thank you for your purchase, good luck, send us a picture when done showing us what color you got”

Old and misleading
I purchased the dark shadow stain. Upon applying the stain it was yellow in color and you could see the black was stuck to the inside of the container. After being applied and it dried there was very little difference in its original color and it only stained in random places. I do believe as some of the other reviews have mentioned that the product was old and not the quality it should have been.

Good product, horrible packaging.
The product works well but good luck having it delivered to you without it leaking all over. Every order that I’ve gotten from them either leaked to the point that they don’t even deliver it and it’s shipped back or it leaks inside of the box and everything is covered in acid. I’m on a deadline and could t return this one but definitely would have if I wasn’t.

NOT BLACK; Hues based in brown (red/yellow)
As another customer stated, this is brown... NOT BLACK, which means it has a stronger red/yellow hue base. I would strongly suggest to anyone to ALWAYS test your stain first before applying, to prevent ruining your project or update. I can't even believe this company is advertising this as black. I applied for a "defective item/not as described" and received my money back.

Dark shadow is no good
The dark shadow stain is a massive fail. I have a theory on why it failed. Looking at the empty bottle it looks like all of the black dye is caked or hardened to the inside of the bottle. We followed the application instructions to a T. I assume that brunt ember (color) is the base for this stain and that is the color that it turned out.

Non returnable and false color description!
Buyers be aware!!!! This is a Non returnable product! We ordered this product in Dark Shadow which shows it to be a dark grey color, when we placed a sample piece on our patio, it was far from that, it looks like a rusty red color! I would stay clear of this product.
