It's cheapo, but worked for me.

My grandpa is pretty old school and needed a remote for his cube shaped TV and VCR. Codes worked great for the VCR and TV even though both devices are probably 15-20 years old. Blew my mind! Make sure to read the instructions on how to program. Don't accidentally throw them away like I did. However, there is a manual online.

I bought these to remote control my old DVD/VCR combination. No instruction booklet came to explain all of the buttons. Yet, however I tried, many buttons didn't do anything.

Okay so I got this remote to navigate the functions of a DVD player I had that I could only watch DVD’s from start to finish, I thought let me buy a small universal one so I could nativage screens and see other movies on discs with multiple films.When I received this remote I found like others, that there was no navigation pad, no arrows, no way to move my selector around on the screen.It took me a while but I figured Out that there is in fact a way to navigate your DVD’s main menu.The MENU button will be your home button to get back to the DVD’s main menuOn any day there are a series of options like play from start, scene selections, deleted scenes and extras etc. consider that they are all numbered from left to right 1-9It’s pretty easy at that point, you press the number that corresponds to your selection, and you can use the channel UP And DOWN to navigate the subsequent option screens, always keeping in mind MENU will take you back to the root of you need to restart. All in all a good little remote for what it’s function is, just a little dated technology but still just as effective

It’s becoming hard to find these remotes. They used to be in every store, but not anymore. It worked exactly as we hoped to control an old vcr. We’re happy to have this remote. Highly recommend for someone needing a programmable remote.

the list of codes given to program it to your device, was extensive. it worked well after a couple of tries in programming and we are happy with it. look up the way to navigate menu options/other settings though - depending on the device, there might not be exact buttons for the needs of the machine. (but there are instructions around that, online)
