10208 36 Inch Straight Edge Aluminum Ruler, Heavy Duty 36 Inch Ruler with Metric and Standard Measurements, Extra Thick Precision Straight Edge

It isn’t often that I leave reviews, and I think this is my first review with photos, but this product is so good I had to so that other Amazon shoppers are aware. I retired and have picked up again sewing and bought this new dangled thing called a rotary cutter, for cutting fabric which I love, but honestly it makes me nervous, it is kind of dangerous. I tried rulers and plastic triangles but I always felt nervous since the rotary roller would jump the measuring object I was using. I pulled out my 48” steel ruler. It is nice and thick and heavy so once I lay it on the fabric it doesn’t move around. It was impractical to use a 48” ruler so I thought I would order a 36” one, I was looking for that thick steel one. What I should have done was look at the 48” for the company name one and buy the same one in a smaller size, but I didn’t, I was sure surprised when it arrived today and I noticed that my 48” ruler is from the same company. I added a lot of pictures showing how great it works with a rotary cutter. It is thick, tall, and being thick, the rotary cutter does not jump, run, roll over the side right onto the ruler like the thinner rulers I was using. I bought a safety ciricut ruler but it is terrible, it has a slight steel plate that sticks out maybe 1/4” from under the aluminum ruler. My very first cut the blade rolled up on that steel bar because the steel bar is real thin, and dulled the blade so I had to change the blades. Not the Mayes ruler, that would never happen with the Mayers ruler. It can’t happen because the Mayes ruler is flush, no little steel bar sticking out, the whole ruler is steel, and flush and heavy. If you are looking for a ruler to use with a rotary cutter, look no further, this is the one you want.

This is a very nice straight-edge & ruler comparable to the other better known brands. It will provide many years of good service with its rigidity, dimensions, and clear markings.

I bought two of these, and I drilled them out and bolted them together, and I keep them in the trunk of my car just for good measure. they have a very good weight to them and are very sturdy.

For the price I am impressed. The accuracy of the markings is dead on when compared to my high end tools. So I trust the measuring ability. I also checked against a straight edge (a high end very accurate one) and found this was straight "enough". Would I trust it for an expensive project as a straight edge no way, that's why I own other nicer tools. This is just for quick measuring of longer items that my 18" ruler constantly kept falling short (pun!) at 36" its a good length and not unwieldy like some of my longer tools. It's nothing special, its a ruler at the end of the day. But its accurate so that's what I cared about. Bonus that it's actually straight (mostly)!

Great straight edge.

Should have bought this a long time ago. Have used it multiple times on one project. In the past I've used a level, Drywall Square, or whatever. The straight edge is easier to handle. Have already found it useful in unexpected ways.

Makes for a great straight edge and a very accurate measurement up to 48 inches.

Measuring from the ends is not quite accurate. I like the product for straight edge & sturdiness. The ruler is accurate except the ends are off by about 1/32.

I tried one side with a real straight edge, it had a cup in it, but the other side was straight. Removed one star for it, but the item is worth the money.

Excelente calidad de fabricación del producto, es muy resistente, puede ser para uso rudo, pero viene solo en pulgadas, no es verdad que tiene medidas en centímetros, tampoco es verdad que tiene medidas de 1/16, sino que son de 1/8 las más pequeñas, para marcar cortes me sirve muy bien, incluso como guía de la sierra circular de mano, pero para medir se puede requerir mayor presición. Si tuviera graduación en mm y además de 1/16 en pulgadas, le daría 5 estrellas.
