Seems Pretty Good
It works pretty well. I tried some other cheap crimpers but they didn't cut the wires off when crimping a pass through connector. These make a perfect crimp most of the time. I think these will work for most. For people that will use these every day should probably spring for better quality crimpers. Good for occasional use. The cable tester works. Although I wouldn't rely on it heavily. The little gray cable stripper works well. Overall a decent kit for the money

Works great
This is a great tool to put the ends on cat5 cables. The tool makes it easy to crimp the cables and prepare the wires for installation in the connector. Works great but getting the wires in the connector is kind of a challenge. But the tool itself works really well. Looks professionally installed and works.

Well now I know what "pass through" means
This crimper kit comes with everything needed to terminate RJ45 plugs on to Ethernet cables. My immediate use was to replace one end for a 30' cable whose retention clip had broken off. It isn't easy to see which wiring standard (T568a or T568b) is used in a finished cable, but the note in the instructions which said most home use wiring uses T568b helped me decide. And then came the challenge of trying to make 8 wires stay in order while pushing all through their connector alignment holes. Maybe finesse can be learned with "on the job" training, because I took way too many attempts before they inserted in the correct order. The jacket stripper is a nice addition to the kit and worked well. Its depth of cut is easy to control. The crimper itself doesn't press-form the strain relief against the unstripped section as it crimps which my previous tool did.The tester (needs a 9V battery, not included) is very similar to one I already had from Micro Center. It simply steps sequentially through the wires a voltage which turns on corresponding LEDs on the other end of the cable, and has a fast and slow rate of stepping selectable. Although the tester appears cheap, it is a good rough check, and a wonder that for all the piece parts it's built from they were able to include it for the price. (It also has RJ11 connectors for telephone cable testing.)As for the pass through, I believe the main reason to have the individual wires hanging out is to double check the positions before crimping. The wires are clipped flush during crimping operation.

They are good if you only use them every now and then.
I ordered these cause they resembled my platinum tools version for work. They worked great for about 10 to 15 terminations. After that they didn't crimp nor cut good again. Even with adjusting. Now if you just want to run a few cables at home and put them away you will be fine. If terminating cat 5 or 6 is your job just get the name brand ones. If your tools make you money spend money on good tools!
