Great bargain, no subscription needed

I bought this as a replacement for my Amazon Halo since Amazon announced it was no longer supporting Halo after June. I will list the pros and cons first with a review below so if you are looking for bottom-line analysis you don't have to read my entire review.Pros.1. App has limited features but what it does do it does well and doesn't require a subscription.2. Slim profile great for women or men that want a tracker but not looking for a giant smartwatch like a Garmin or Samsung.3. Incredibly inexpensive for the functionality you get.4. Blood pressure and pulse oximeter function which are features even higher priced trackers do not support yet and the readings are fairly accurate when I compare them to readings at my last Doctor's appointment.5. Uses standard watch straps so no more ordering expensive proprietary watch straps. You can get a replacement strap at a department store for cheap.Cons.1. App doesn't give fitness tips or suggestions, recipes track BMI or other features that subscription-based trackers provide. This may be a pro or con for some. I hated these features and am happy not to pay for a subscription since I did not use these features anyway, just give me the data and I will do my own analysis! But if you like these features, you won't find them here.2. Grammar, some of the analytics compare to averages in your weight and age class i.e. "beyond 26% people get up early" Does that mean 26% of people in my demographic wake up earlier than me or am I waking up 26% earlier than the average? Unclear3. the app is intuitive and easy to learn but if you are not familiar with its features there are not a lot of ways to figure it out without trying to contact Da Fit directly. If you've used a fitness app before I think you can figure it out, but if you are new to these devices you might struggle getting aquatinted.4. The way it calculates calories burned seems to be more optimistic than I have had with other trackers including sony move, google fit, noom, Halo, and Fitbit. I would say it overcompensates by about 10% on average. Not a big deal if you're aware of it.5. Doesn't track total calories burned in the day so if you are using BMR as a metric in your training this can be a problem, however, you can sync the Da Fit app with Google Fit if you have Android and Google Fit will do this for you.6. The GPS trail feature only works for running and not Cycling.I prefer a wristwatch for telling time. My job requires me to track time constantly and Smartwatch screens that have to be awaked constantly or using my phone is inconvenient. The Halo was a fitness tracker without a screen and was slim. This tracker is identical in size to Halo so I wear a wristwatch on one wrist and this tracker on the opposite side and it does not look weird like a Norman Schwarzkopf double watch fashion statement. It just looks like a black silicone bracelet since I leave the screen off all the time and just access the tracker via my phone when needed. That being said it will allow you to receive text messages from your phone but not let you reply or answer calls. This tracker is a great value for experienced users of fitness trackers. The app gives you the basic functions you need without the fluff or expense of a subscription. While I feel it is intuitive to use, if you're not familiar with these types of devices there are no manuals or online help available and I have not seen many good tutorials on YouTube either. They go provide contact information for support but have not called so not sure how good the support is. If you're a first-timer or not particularly tech-savvy, you may be better served spending a little more on a more well-known and better-supported device.Another point worth noting is that Da Fit is a third-party app being used to support many low-priced trackers on Amazon and other outlets. The benefit of this is if your inexpensive tracker breaks(these are used in physical activity and life happens right?) It is easy to pick up a replacement tracker and sync it to the app even if the tracker is a different brand than the original. Just verify it used DaFit before purchasing. I once broke a $300 Fitbit and decided to replace it with an alternative and all of my data was useless on my new device. Of course, the reverse is true and DaFit could stop supporting the app but since it's not a subscription the tracker should continue to function as normal there just won't be updates. This is unlike my experience with Amazon Halo where they just emailed me and said the device will stop working in July and won't be charged my monthly subscription fee anymore. One day everything is fine next day poof... No more Halo.I think if you are looking for a bare-bones yet intuitive tracker that just gives you the data you need without bells and whistles you don't need this is a great option that costs well under $100 on the average tracker with similar functions. The Da Fit app is surprisingly good for that price and when I pair it with Google Fit, all of my needs are met. I imagine the same is true for iPhone users. This unit is advertised as being iPhone compatible, although I have not tried it myself.

I like the rectangular shape and simplicity of it.

I have had the Apple and the FitBit as well as Amazon’s brand and one other over the years. My favorite was Jawbone 15 years ago just for steps and sleep, but no one seems to want to make a price of jewelry that just gives you that without being awkward or ugly.I ran across this watch and decided to give it a try because I needed to monitor my blood pressure and heart rate as well as oxygen levels.I wish the sleep was a little more detailed but I still use an app on my phone for that. It could really do away with the option for phone notifications because you can’t respond but that always annoyed me and drains the battery on any device anyway. It is easy to use and for a basic watch for steps and fitness this is a fantastic option. It gives several options for exercise and haven’t tried those out just yet, but there are several preloaded one’s stating what you might be doing already.

Great looking

Very easy to read the screen. Set up was very easy to follow. Well packaged. Love all the features . Got the pink. We’ll have used the watch and noticed the blood pressure reading are off by at least 25 lower than true reading. Not very accurate. Sleep tracking was good until I noticed that I got up at 430am which was correct but then continued to have me sleeping until 07:36am which I had been up ate breakfast did some outside chores and was in car driving at 0736 so not sure why it continued reading me as sleeping . Really wanted it for monitoring my sleep. Will see how it is after a few more nights. Steps seems to be spot on so far also blood oxygen is ok along with heart rate. Close enough. Reason for changing my review from 5 to 4

UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW!!! Review and helpful hints for those who need them

NEW RATING IS ONE STAR!Per my final paragraph in this review, here is an update:Well, things HAVE "gone south" with this watch. Here are the details....Initially, I wrote the review as both a helpful one (for those having problems with setting or using the watch and the app.), AND, an actual review of the watch and my assessment of it at the time. As of today 6-20 the watch is basically useless. It began to register really inaccurate results for sleep, BP, heart rate etc. so I contacted Amazon for help. We went through a litany of fixes including completely resetting the watch and uninstalling the app. These actions removed all my accumulated data which didn't make me too happy but we were trying everything and unfortunately, nothing helped. I contacted the seller per the Amazon representative and waited for a response...2-4-6-8 who don't I appreciate??? The seller... who never responded. So, 8 days after my initial contact with Amazon and attempted contact with the seller, I reconnected with Amazon. By now, the watch face had become covered with both horizontal and vertical lines which obscured the face to the point of uselessness. Amazon reviewed my initial contact and my current situation with the watch and rectified my problem promptly and efficiently. To them I give my absolute "Thanks".I must say, in defense of the watch, if yours continues to work... enjoy it! It is actually a really nice watch with excellent features. MY SUGGESTION: Read the reviews both + and - , then make your choice. Good luck!, and as an aside...as of this moment, my watch will no longer even turn on...INITIAL REVIEW: You know, I use reviews to help with my decisions to purchase one item over another just as I am sure you also do. Unfortunately, and for whatever reason, many of the reviews for this item contain HUGE inaccuracies. I imagine this could be caused by updates to software, changes in instruction manuals, changes in verbiage in written communications with the company or unwillingness to read or implement instructions, etc., etc., etc.. Hopefully this review will help resolve some of these issues.#1: From my experience, this company is NOT buying 5 star reviews in return for watchbands. They send an email which states succinctly, that they will activate a lifetime warranty and send two watchbands in your choice of style and color if you send them your order number. That's it...No solicitation for 5 star reviews in return for anything up front.Shortly after you activate your warranty and choose your bands, you receive an email stating your order has shipped and giving you your tracking number. It does ask for a 5 star review so others can hear about your experience but NOWHERE does it offer anything for giving a review, five star or not. If you chose to leave a review...it's your choice of the number of stars to leave and what to write. Hey! Look around on Amazon, most every seller asks for a 5 star review at some point during or after the sale. Hell, Amazon even solicits reviews of sellers from customers.#2: "Difficulty with or inability to pair the watch to the app" Possibly...if you don't follow the pairing instructions. No sweat if you do.(1)TURN ON BLUETOOTH!(2)Make sure you download the correct app for your phone...Apple for Apple, Android for Android (5.0 and higher). The apps are not interchangeable.(3)Be sure to then: UPDATE THE APP, DO IT NOW, DON'T TRY ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL YOU GET CONFIRMATION THAT YOU HAVE THE LATEST VERSION.(4)Open app and enter height, weight, gender, and birthdate so that the app calibrates itself to you and not to some default.(5)On the device page in the app click "add a devise" the devise is "H80" and will most likely have a corresponding picture. Click or tap on H80 and POOF...magically you are paired. From this moment on the watch will automatically connect to the app AS LONG AS BLUETOOTH IS ENABLED.Don't get rattled. If it doesn't automatically connect, simply tap CONNECT in the pop-up and you are good to go. Hope this helps anybody having problems.#3: "The app is mandatory to use the watch features". Possibly wrong (with a caviot)...I don't remember it not showing basics before I paired with the app but if it absolutely doesn't, forgive me.To the best of my recollection the important features are all available on the watch itself...BP, SPO2, heart rate, steps, sleep time etc. The app however takes things from "basic" to "full featured". If you want to customize your watch or make your choice of exercises to monitor or myriad other options and features to activate at your discretion...get on Play Store and download the "da fit" app.#4: "The watch lights up all night and cannot be turned off". WRONG!Go to "Other" in the app and set Quick View to on and then set the time you want it to turn off and back on during your chosen hours for example, from 6:00AM on 11:00PM off. Voilà..."cannot" becomes "can".#5: "Cannot chose watch face" WRONG!!! Go to "watch faces" in the app and find something you like, click it and Bingo it's yours. There are many styles and choices, you can even use a picture of your choice.#6: "The watch BP or steps or SPO2 etc., are highly inaccurate". This one is subjective in that I have no idea nor control over how each individual has their watch set up. For example, cheating on your height, weight, gender or age can cause inaccuracies in the data produced. You may be wearing the watch to loose or to tight to get accurate feedback. Super hairy wrists or body creams/lotions can effect readings as can buildup on the wrist sensors.Personally, I have two different cuff BP monitors which I trust and use the average of 3 measurements taken 1 minute apart. My H80 agrees closely with these averaged readings. I also have a finger SPO2 and pulse monitor which agrees with the readings from this watch either exactly or within a point +/-. Bottom line for me and my watch...I find no reasons not to trust the readings given by this watch to date.#7: I really believe that most of the negatives stated by others concerning this watch can be overcome through correct installation, setup, pairing, connection to bluetooth and the internet and proper usage by the individual owners of the watch. As of this moment I am enjoying it and what it offers within the limits of its scope. I think it's a really good value at this price point. Try it, what have you got to lose?I gave it 5 stars because as of this moment...that's what it deserves. If things suddenly go south...I will let you know and re-rate as necessary.
