Finally...
So happy I got this!I was worried at first because it’s literally just a block of cardboard, I thought maybe I was making a silly mistake. But no, it’s effective, even without the catnip. We adopted our cat and shes 10 years old, she has never used a scratch post or board. She used to be an outdoor cat but we live in a flat next to a busy road in the city, so we can’t let her roam free. I felt like I had to accommodate for her.I found this board and thought it would be great because I already bought her a post and she just doesn’t get it at all, then when I bought this one she just ignored it.So I had to start TRAINING her to use the board, I dangled toys on the board so she would grip it with her nails and then I would treat her when she dug her nails in the board. I also treated her whenever she sat on the board and after about 3 weeks of painful, tiresome training...l finally taught this old girl how to scratch in the house. She’s a bit of a trickster though because now she will often sit on it because, yeah, she likes it but she also does this thing where sits and then immediately looks at me as if to say “Give treats”.Proud of my student, will probably have to replace this board when it’s done but is holding up really well so far!

Cat scratching board
I have used this brand over the years, and have no complaints. You can turn the corrugated insert over after a while and it is like a new surface to scratch on. Yes, they make a bit of a mess, but easily cleaned up. All the while my cat is using this instead of the furniture, it is a win. And he absolutely loves it, even lays on it when he is chilling.3/2/25 I still rate this as the best in the corrugated cardboard cat scratchers and am really upset as it seems to no longer be available. I have trawled the internet for it and cant find it anywhere. The size is great, as most of the others are just smaller and thinner. My cat loves laying on it, so the smaller ones won't be as comfortable for him I am sure. My photo shows how well used it is, and I am going to have to replace it soon and that is sad.

Saves my carpet. Well worth the money.
I have 3 cats and all of them love these. I can't get them out of the box fast enough before one of them wants to use it. 2 of mine used to love the bottom step now they just used the scratch box. With all 3 of mine these don't last long so I do change mine every 2 months but I have found you can flip over the cardboard and use the other side. I have also now got into the habit of chopping the cardboard in half as none of mine use the middle and this way they last a lot longer. The catnip is a great added benefit although with 3 cats this normally results in a fight as they all want to get on it at once.

It works !
As soon as it arrived cat 1 who is the worst offender of carpet scratching, was first on it and scratching ! Cat 2 watched , cat 1 then settled down to sleep on it :) now both cats are using it and as you can see it’s a bit of a squeeze to both get on it so have ordered another one . It definitely has cut down on carpet scratching and both cats love the cat nip. I do have to put it on a piece of old carpet though to stop it sliding around the laminate floors we have as it does move a lot when they scratch it otherwise.

A big hit with my cats and I'm never without one or two in use (and haven't been for several years)
The media could not be loaded. Over many years and several cats, this has been my go-to scratching board. My cat uses this as a scratching board as well as a bed, and he loves it (the photo shows how we've customised it). The cardboard seems to retain his scent from scratching so its a way for him to mark his territory in our kitchen without scratching any furniture or carpets. Before we had this, he used to scratch the carpet so this has been a real find. The wide one gives enough space to my slightly 'wider', older cat to lie on comfortably and it's cheap enough to allow me to replace it every month to six weeks when the cardboard needs renewing ... but do flip it over and use both sides. And it can be recycled! Great product, and a must-have repeat purchase for me.

It's cardboard ... But...
So, it arrives & your first thought is ... It's a lump of cardboard! You've just paid 7 quid for a lump of cardboard. The instructions tell you to replace it when it's worn. You chuckle to yourself & decide you won't fall for that one again. You take it out of it's packaging & as you're doing so, the cat watches from it's spot on the sofa, silently judging you for appearing to have spent 7 quid on cardboard. You look at the now despairing cat as you follow the not so weighty tome that is the instructions and proceed to sprinkle catnip onto the 7 quid cardboard, maintaining eye contact throughout. Then you step away.Cautiously she approaches, trying to figure out if it's true. If it really IS a lump of cardboard that the fool has purchased. The same fool that spent £40 on that eyesore cat tree that I pretend to not care about so he gets into trouble with the other person that lives here (the one that appears to be boss), only for me to wait till they're all in bed before going crazy on it.Yep, she decides. It's cardboard. But wait. I like lying on it... and stretching... and scratching. OH MY WORD, THE SCRATCHING!!! How amazing is this, she thinks. And she never leaves it again.Does she still scratch that carpet? Yeah a little bit.Does she like the cardboard? Absolutely! Will you pay another 7 quid for more? Certainly will! But is it really just cardboard? Yep, but it's awesome!

Breaks easily when used
I have two cats. One cat will only scratch these or furniture/my carpet. This is quite annoying as I find these card scratch boards are never strong enough and she quickly scratches through them as well as tracking bits of card all around my house. I feel like I have to vacuum every day. I wish they were a bit stronger. Both of my cats are indoor cats and are very small. The width is good and I can’t comment on catnip as I don’t use it.
