Perfect little feeder.

Updated after months of use. This is a great feeder. So good in fact that I bought two!If I was picky there are a couple of niggles. Firstly the water is not easy to change, the birds are a nightmare for dropping seeds and nuts and whatnot in there so it needs cleaning every couple of days. The problem with this design is that you can't clean the water out easily without the cleaning the seed also. You dump it all or nothing, which feels a little wasteful as I never let the feeder get completely empty. The other isn't so much a niggle as a positioning issue. It's great at attracting birds, but not always the birds you want. I've had a couple of magpies and pigeons who figure a way to jump on top of the feeder to get at the fatballs. Which meant I've lost the green edge off the top of one. The second feeder I placed in a different window, unfortunately given the large ledge below it, the seagulls loved that one! Their trick eventually was to just stand under the feeder, jump up and whack all the seed out!. One of them even stole one of the fatball holders off it also. So I guess that the story here is that positioning is everything. Good news is that I've put some fatballs in another feeder that the magpie can get to a little easier, so it seems to have left the window feeder alone now.So good side of that I guess is that the suckers work well, it can hold the weight of a plump pigeon or decent sized magpie pretty well. Bad side is that birds are tricky little things and will probably find a way to mess with your setup. You will have to check the suckers periodically, I've noticed they are good for a couple of months usually but I'd just re-stick them every few weeks or monthly. Finally, I've added some pics of this years youngsters who have been using the feeder the last 6 weeks or so.______________________First review.I've had this a few days now and I've got to say I'm made up with it. It's a nice sturdy and well-fitting design. The suckers seem to be nice and strong too. I'd initially placed them a little wonky and taking one of them off the window to reset wasn't an easy task! The blue tits around here love it. I've seen other birds with the food I've got in there but the blue tits don't seem to bothered if I'm around and working. They are probably just a little braver. Anyway, back to the review I think this is good value for money and does exactly what it says on the tin. I had visitors within hours of putting it up.

Sturdy, stays put, easy to refill & clean; recommended.

Really great. The suction cups are very powerful, and the feeder has withstood much bigger birds than should be using it landing, struggling to stay on it, and leaving again. Also handles squirrels well. It's open, so don't get it if you'll be bothered by squirrels using it.Do follow the suggestion when assembling it to tie the fat ball holders on with the string - these get knocked off quite regularly, but if you tie it on the way that's suggested, they just dangle from the feeder instead of falling to the ground. The only thing is that most of the birds that use it (nut hatchers, robins, etc) are so little that the fat balls on either side are taller than them, cutting off their peripheral vision. I cut the fat balls in half to make them shorter, and the birds seem much less skittish now. It's really easy to lean out of the window (it's on a first floor window) and pull the feeder off the mounting to refill it. If the maker reads this, I'd suggest redesigning it so the fat ball holders sit lower. This was one of my best purchases this year; so delighted.

Fun for family.

(1) So we put this window feeder on our kitchen window where our family spends a lot of time. Kitchen being the busiest room of the house, it took the birds nearly 2 months to summon the courage to try it. Great tits have been using it (mealworms! Yum yum). But I think they’d much rather eat from the feeders that aren’t as close to our house as this one is. However, having said that to encourage birds to use this window feeder patience is needed. As they will definitely use it.Incidentally, I recently noticed a family had stuck two of these window feeders on their house front and it was inundated with birds - all kinds of - great tits, blue tits and even starlings. That family had put some lace-y curtains on their windows maybe that’s why the birds didn’t seem to be too afraid (as they couldn’t see the joke owners seeing them that well). Or maybe that family has had it for long enough and the birds are now used to it.I will update my review if more birds flock to my feeder.(2) easy to assemble- I bought this feeder last year in 2019 but put it up in the spring of 2020. Had lost the instructions to put it up but was able to slot things together on the basis of the pictures.Make sure to ‘burp’ out the air bubbles every time to change food in it. So far this feeder has stayed on the window, without falling but I don’t want to tempt fate.(3) easy to clean.(4) sturdy - did I say great tots have used it without any incident.
