Gremlins, but not necessarily in this unit
Deployed two of these in a multi-story house for wireless coverage. Work fine, but ran into a very odd problem while deploying them. The client had a Verzion cell extender unit made by Samsung installed, and for some reason, these units would always cause it to error out if configured for anything other than repeater on odd channels. Yes, ODD channels - not even. After a day of frustrating testing and reconfiguring, I got it all working, and the client is happy, but I have not encountered that issue before or since. As for the deployment, that was very straight-forward. PoE from switching room was pre-run, so I just had to program the units for the right mode, channel and other sundry settings. Usually took about ten minutes to set up each unit, then installed them and tested. Web-based interface is easy enough to understand if you have some knowledge of networking terminology and theory. Units are very nice-looking, and the blue LEDs are somewhat bright. In my case, I was lucky that the clients loved the soft blue glow from the units because they were perfect 'night light' type illumination in the locations where the units were installed. There was an option to turn off the indicators, but it is buried in the interface and the LED indicators are helpful when chasing gremlins. This is not my first experience with EnGenius products. Their history has been mixed. Either the units run great from the start, or they are trouble children and fail before the first year is out. Most of mine have been the former, but the issue with the odd channels and the sheer number of resets I had to do to get it all working correctly worry me. I will update if they go south.

Works well, very discrete, true PoE AP at a reasonable price.
I was skeptical about the product as I was not familiar with the brand and the documentation was ambiguous in a few areas. However, once I received the product and began setting it up, it operated as expected. Moreover, it supports Power over Ethernet (PoE / 802.3af) which makes it ideal as a remote access point (AP) at a location where you may not have convenient access to AC power. The range is comparable to my other 2.4GHz WiFi APs. (It is 2.4GHz only and does not have a 5GHz radio.) The 802.11n speeds are also comparable to my other 2.4GHz APs. The UI on its browser-based software was acceptable and its traffic logging features are pretty cool. It supports several modes including standard access point and WiFi repeater in addition to WDS and all the usual encryption protocols plus it supports multiple SSIDs which I intend to set up at some point to allow different connection profiles for guest and NintendoDS access which may not support WPA / WPA2.The manufacturer's website and tech support were not as good as more established companies, but fortunately neither was critically necessary for me to get a good working set up first as a repeater and ultimately as an AP (which I am using right now as I write this review.)The main reason I purchased the product was for its discrete appearance. It is compact and looks like a smoke detector. It scores big there and was very easy to install on the ceiling of my upstairs hallway where I had pre-wired an Ethernet cable connected to a Netgear switch with PoE ports in my basement. The whole thing is operating from just a single network cable connection. It has 3 bright LEDs (LAN, WAN, and WiFi) which can be individually enabled disabled to be even more discrete.I had been looking for an economical solution like this for a couple of years and and am very pleased with this one. It was hard not to give it 5 stars, especially at its sub $100 price point. However, I would have liked it to include a simultaneous 5GHz mode, even better range, and better documentation and tech support.

Powerful access point
I needed to add another wireless access point to my home system. My cable modem and wireless router were located on the opposite side of the house from my kids' bedrooms and the reception there was almost non-existant. I had tried a range extender that used the house wiring and it was pretty much worthless. I saw a similar repeater and located this one through a search. The only reason I don't give this five stars is because the instructions are written for iT professionals only. I am fairly comforable in tackling most of my home networking and wireless issues. However, the instructions for this devise were very difficult to understand and I had to call their help desk. Fortunately their technician was able to help me get it set up. The signal is strong and provides the access that was needed in the bedroom portion of the house. Additional set up instructions for security are just as confusing but I was able to get that figured out on my own.

Excellent coverage and very easy to setup....
This is the 5th unit I've bought. Each time, I've paired this with EnGenius EPE-5818AF 1-Port Power over Ethernet Injector and they work flawlessly together. The PoE allows you to send the power over the ethernet cable, so all you have to do is connect the ethernet cable to the AP and hang it.Setup is as simple as t gets. Connect your pc/laptop and the AP to a switch, and give your device an IP on the network of 192.168.1.0/24 except for .1. Connect to the AP on 192.168.1.1 and you can statically assign an IP of your choice to the AP. Once that is done, just connect the AP to your existing network and you can configure the rest of the settings using the new IP. I normally use this AP as a repeater/extender for the existing wireless network. None of my customers have had any complaints using wireless via this AP.

Not to be confused with eap600 but for small environments will do great.
I have used Engenius products before and I will keep using them! Here I wanted to cheap out and expected same performance as 200$ product. Range is definitely lacking even full power. This is pretty average AP with few options but I can't see it being used for large applications. As an additional wifi point it's going to work great but as a sole I'd go for something more powerful.
