Great little bookshelf!

Pleasantly surprised by this charming little bookshelf! I just needed something small to hold my current reading selection. Something that would fit nicely next to my bedside table (it’s from IKEA for size reference) and would be study enough. It’s not a high quality material but it was super easy to assemble, holds everything well, and is so cute! Definitely happy with the cost for this little shelf!

What's it made out of? Probably Styrofoam.

Super easy to pop together ans assemble you do not need gloves, mallet or power screw driver. It's definitely lacking in qaulity material but it does the job just fine.

Good value / cheap price, cleverly designed, VERY CHEAP weak material

First of all, the material this is made of, I don't know what it is. It feels like balsa wood which if you don't know what that is, it's a very lightweight very flimsy wood - think styrofoam. It feels like it's made of balsa wood and styrofoam. Structurally it's a very very weak flimsy material, one of the worst if not the worst material I've ever seen for furniture. To put it another way, most pieces of wood furniture (shelf, cabinet, table, coffee table), I would feel 100% comfortable to stand on top of them. This thing, I'm sure if I stood on it, it would buckle and collapse. This does fit together like a puzzle, like parts of it literally resemble a jigsaw puzzle piece that locks in. You have to use some force to lock in the segments. I used my deadblow hammer (a hammer filled with sand for weight) to good effect, but I'm sure if you hit one of the jigsaw nubs it would break. You can also fit the parts manually. It also comes with a LOT of screws, I used a power screwdriver here to good effect. It would have been tedious to put them all in manually. It does come with a tiny screwdriver if that's how you want to use it. Again, you have to be quite cautious when driving the screws because of the flimsy weak nature of the material i.e. it would be very easy to strip out the material around screws. Some wood glue at all the joints may help the whole process and confer a stronger structure though I didn't try it in this case.Altogether, at the price point this is sold for, I do still think it's fair value. It's flimsy but what do you expect for the price. For the weak material, the design and engineering is very reasonable and innovative. There are potential use cases if you want a piece of furniture that is cheap and light (easily moved) - if you're putting light weight things in it, want it to look nice, and mostly use the shelf for display, i think it fits the bill. If it's getting heavy use or holding heavy things, I would expect the thing to break. Given the flimsy wood, if you do ever need to repair it, I'd recommend a nut/bolt setup instead of screws, since it's impossible to get a "bite" from a screw in that material.

Not worth the money.

Easy to assemble but not at all sturdy. Very wobbly. I don't reccommend.

Easy to put together.

Was easy to put together even for an 85 year old woman. Thank you.

Don’t breathe too hard or you’ll break it - A Review.

I am going to be brutally honest here-I have to say this is probably one of the lowest-quality items I’ve ever received from Amazon in my life. For reference, I ordered the Walking With Dinosaurs book when it first came out. That’s a rather large list to find yourself at the bottom of.Opening the box, I saw that it came with gloves. Weird, I thought, until I started touching the pieces. The whole thing is covered in some kind of sawdusty residue, it’s very unpleasant, and gets everywhere as you’re handling the pieces. Gloves now understood, although it’s odd that it’s acknowledged enough that they included gloves in the first place, rather than it being something that’s handled before shipping.Putting it together is simple enough. The whole thing fits together sort of like puzzle pieces - they have waves and notches where they connect. And that would be fine, but herein lies the problem. The whole thing is made of some extremely cheap material, nearly akin to a heavier styrofoam. It literally chipped and cracked itself with each piece I assembled, due to the product itself not being able to withstand the force necessary to push the little plugs into their slots. I did not Incredible Hulk my way through this, I’m literally saying, putting the thing together even carefully will actively chip away at and potentially break it as you are doing it. This thing gives the phrase “don’t beat yourself up” a whole new meaning. Also, the side pieces - they don’t really hold on to each other. Although it’s small, don’t expect to put this together on your lap, it will fall apart as you’re trying to build it. Do it on a flat surface like a table. Finally assembled, it doesn’t really look that nice. The wavy-puzzle piece like parts are clearly visible and evident. The completed stand is light and easy to move around. Just to give you an idea, you could probably chuck it over your roof if you wanted to. I probably wouldn’t put too much weight on it seeing as the pieces could barely withstand being snapped (lol) together, but it should be able to hold some books and a lamp or clock. So, in the end, it does serve its purpose. I have not wobble tested mine, if you would like to wobble test yours, you should probably order two.I would say, if you have just moved and need temporary budget filler items until you buy nicer things, sure, go ahead. Otherwise, just buy something else.

Perfect for the price

This is perfect as a small "nightstand" next to my daughter's bed. I didn't need to put anything that heavy on it, so I didn't need to use the screws. Easy to put together & looks great!

Massive pain to assemble but cheap, sturdy and cute

Holy balls, watching my husband assemble this was painful, lol. The premade holes were so snug he was banging on every piece for ages to get them to fit. Not fun. But it's cheap, sturdy enough once you go through that initiation and we're planning to throw some paint on them to make them a little more fun. I don't think you can beat the price for something not made out of fabric and metal frames. We're getting a second one, but my husband is already dreading putting it together. And he's the more patient one in the house, lol.
