Was very happy to find the Mourning Dove on Amazon
We collect these Audubon birds. Was very happy to find the Mourning Dove on Amazon, since our local store does not carry this species. Item arrived quickly. However, when the "press here" button was pressed, no sound came out - no authentic bird sound.I returned it and re-ordered another. Item arrived quickly. When I pressed the "press here" button, there was some sound - but so muffled and garbled that it sounded as if the bird had emphysema! I have one wheezing bird. As I said, I have many of these Audubon Birds - and these are the first defectives ones I have encountered. Not sure if I will send this back - it is a many-step process. I sure won't order another thought, I can tell you that.

Soft, Fluffy & Cooing with Delight!
This item was a welcomed addition to our home, and was exactly what I was looking for to make a certain Bird Lover happy. Its soft, its made well, and I was surprised to learn - it coos when you squeeze it. My girlfriend is absolutely in love with this item, and as any man in a relationship will tell you - if she's happy, we're happy. This item comes from a line of plush toys that I know we will be back to collect more of, so in my opinion, I have to give it Two Big Fluffy Wings Up! :-)

Great Little Toy
We have purchased several of these birds from the Audubon collectible series and love them all. None of them are very large, but they are very well made and all make a sound when you squeeze them. The mourning dove doesn't sound exactly 100% right, but is close enough for most people. We have several a few years old and they still look new. My only complaint is there is no way to change the batteries in them, but so far all of ours still work!

Cute bird
I love the Audubon series of plush birds! I bought for the look rather than the sound. They are very cute and I use these to help teach my children about different birds found in our area. The sound is pretty poor quality, it has an electronic sound to it, but my expectations were not high to begin with and as I said, I didn't buy for the sound. The sound is good enough to help teach young children the different bird songs. Overall, I am well pleased with this product and will buy other species from Audubon!

HEART-MELTING!!
This mourning dove baby is incredibly cuddly and adorable! The song omitted from the "voice box" was a bit raspy, but certainly audible. In my case, I didn't care if this dove had a voice box or not - I've always wanted to add a mourning dove to my avian plush family, and I couldn't have gotten a better one than this!

Adorable and real sounding!
My three-year-old son loves birds, and we have many mourning doves in our area. This plush is just right for cuddling (it's his favorite), and makes a very realistic sound when you want it to. We have many of the other species as well. Also, FYI for the parents out there, this is not a toy that they will roll on top of in bed and it will make the noise and wake them up. It really has to be pushed to make the noise. For me, this is a plus!

Dove Love
It's not that the sound is unrealistic- I doubt that the "bird lab" at Cornell would fake the call- it's just that there is a slight static sound behind the call itself. Kids will not even notice, and I am beginning to not notice because it is so slight. My daughter collects these birds and requested this one for Xmas. The eyes are ringed in bright blue, and there are two dusty pink markings on either side of the head. Birds come with a little booklet explaining their behavior, habitat, and call. Decent price. These birds encourage my daughter to learn about live birds, and I can't wait to find out which one she wants next.Update on 4/10/13: I kid you not- this morning, as I was walking by a bush-tree-thingie in my yard, I heard a mourning dove coo, and it had that weird static sound "behind" the call. I have heard birds that sound just like electronics. Case closed.

I've gotten other Audubon Plush Birds that make the authentic bird sound in the past. Typically, the bird sounds are crisp and clear, enough so that my niece enjoys using the stuffed birds to "talk" to the birds in and around my house. I thought this would make a good addition to our collection, however it sounds as thought the Mourning Dove's call is a bit distorted. I don't know if it's poor sound quality or if the Plush Bird itself was damaged at some point, but the sound is not as crisp and clear as what I've come to expect from this company, thus the 3 stars.
