The first two pictures are from 4 years ago and the last one shows the spike deterrents. In 2021 a pair of Robins built a nest on top of one of the lights that are on either side of the door on the front porch of my house. (See Picture #1)I had my doubts whether or not it would survive because of going in and out the door with the dog for walks and, of course, the frequent visit from the Amazon drivers. They constructed a nice looking nest, laid and hatched 3 eggs, but in a short time it was apparent that these were not the best nest builders. In the first picture you can see one of the chicks in pin feathers and one of the parents. Cozy looking, but the nest was actually tilting off to the side. I had to wire it to the fixture, but in no time it was apparent that this wasn't the fix it needed. It started to fall apart, baby chicks fell out, hitting the cement hard from 6' up. The babies were scooped up and put back in the nest, but the one chick was considerably larger than the other two and I suspect it was kicking the smaller ones out. Eventually the smaller ones disappeared. The nest fell off the light; I replaced it. Finally, I just got a silk fern in a pot on a raised stool to hold the nest (with my dog's cone of shame to keep the squirrels away) and the parents fed the surviving chick until it fledged. Not wanting to repeat this scenario, when evidence of nesting showed up this year, the material was removed. And the birds replaced it. I tried to put sticky tape on top of the fixture, but the birds removed it and replaced it with more nesting material. So I found these spikes and put them where the nesting materiel was being placed. The next day, there was no activity! The day after that, there was a string of foliage in the spikes, but they gave up and went to the light on the other side of the door! Now that one is also wearing a crown. These sure seem like they are going to be the fix I needed. But, these Robins are apparently very smart and determined! These were easy to put together and adhere to the light fixtures, wrapping around the part in back of the light that attaches to the house. What's nice about them is that while they are effective from the get go, they aren't obtrusive looking from the sidewalk and street.

We live in a heavily wooded area, and the Carolina Wrens love to build nests in every nook and cranny around the house. We remove the nests until we find eggs in them, and at that point we just wait it out until the birds are gone again in the fall. We chose these deterrent spikes because we wanted metal rather than plastic — one less thing for the squirrels to chew on. Assembly was straightforward (definitely wear safety goggles, as the tines can spring out of your hands when attaching them to the base), and installation was a breeze. We opted to screw them down, which was simple thanks to the lightweight base and clearly marked mounting holes. So far they’ve been effective, and they look like they’ll continue to do the job.

While NOT difficult to assemble they do take time. Fortunately the product box was shipped inside an Amazon box as the product box was really beat up not being able to withstand the size and weight of the product. Assembled them last night and hope to start installing them later today. So far they seem to be reasonably built and capable of doing the intended job.

These are affordable, easy to assemble and install, and work effectively. They are simple to cut to length, and can be mounted with screws, tape, zip-ties (use UV-resistant ties outdoors) or a combination of these, as needed. I have had two sets of them installed in outdoor locations for over a year, and all are still in good-as-new condition, with no corrosion, slipping or breakage. These spikes are very effective, but not perfect - a few birds have been able to build nests around them, and squirrels seem to like stacking walnuts in them (like wire storage racks). I think doubling the installation (using two strips close together, not just one) will address these problems.

Does what it is intended to do and keeps Pigeons and Morning Doves off my Chimney Vent. I must admit it was funny watching one of the regulars try to land on the vent with these things installed. Ouch, no doubt. Back to the meat and potato's, its like a mini erector set putting all the spikes in the base place and takes a little time but all in all it was worth it. Everything is stainless steel, goes together easy and a snap to install. I don't miss the 5am mating calls echoing down the chimney and the dodo all over the place. Well worth the cost.

Got these to keep birds from nesting under my deck. They seem to work for a while, but then the birds just built nests in them. I could have tried adding more to the areas they built in, but ended up just putting in a ceiling under my deck, so I no longer needed them. Give them a try, as they are fairly cheap, perhaps you will have better luck than me.

I can't recommend bird spikes enough-they've completely solved my bird problem. I had issues with birds constantly landing on my balcony and even trying to fly into the screened area. We've had recurring spring battles with doves nesting on our transom window above our front door. We've tried the owls, shiny hanging predators with bells, and rigging up fishing line, all with little to no success. Maybe too early to tell but this seems to be working (definitely looks better than all the home-made alternatives I've tried). Seems to be a quality product. Comes disassembled, but takes 2-3 minutes per section to "snap" the spikes into place on the strips. Easy!
