Great unit. Solid and heavy. Well made. Buy it! Looks awesome!
Great and well made product. It's heavy! The directions say to have two people to lift it and put it on the wall; and that's a true statement. I did it by myself, but my back hates me for it.Took about 30 to 45 minutes to assemble. Instructions were clear; with pictures. When you install the shelf on the wall, there is NO room for error. You MUST have the metal rail that attaches to the wall exactly where you want it. You cannot slide the floating shelf even one centimeter to the left or right once hung on the wall. So if you need to have the shelf centered, like I did, double check you measurements first. This unit is very solid and seems to be able to hold a lot of weight. I didn't put put tv on it, as my tv is hung on the wall; the shelf only holds my AV equipment, which is all I needed it for.I wish the hole underneath the bottom shelf was larger. I had to STUFF all my cords and cables down, around, and in the back of the shelf. Looks nice now that all the cords are hidden, but again, it would be easier with two people to manage the cords. One to feed the cords, one to grab and organize them. This unit sits very tightly against the wall; you can't pry the bottom away from the wall (in order to get to the cords). So try to arrange you feed your cords correctly the first time.I would definitely buy this unit again, no question about it.

very modern without being "cold"
Absolutely love the new stand. When installing the bracket to the wall just make sure not to over-tighten the lag screws into the the wall. This created too tight of a lip and the stand brackets didn't have the ability to sit in the bracket. Not sure what the manufacturer is thinking about securing the lag screws into the studs by hand with an allen wrench. I'm not one to over drill the size of the hole and the instructions were right on for the diameter of the screw and the diameter of the drill bit. Luckily I had a few adaptors and bits so I used my impact driver to drive in all the screws into the studs. We did ignore the manufacturers recommended mounting heights as we used the "hidden compartment" of the bottom shelf to hide not only all the cords but also the outlets for electric and cable. It was a little bit of a game of patience playing with all the cords, luckily my wife was there to help with her smaller arms and able to reach in from the bottom access hole. We were very nervous of the color as in the picture from the site it seems lighter than what we wanted, but we knew we didn't want black, as J Rose put it an espresso color would be pretty close. It was a very pleasant dark wood grain. Matte finish and not a lot of contrast or any other color background. Definitely in the dark brown palette, and the grain texture is there but not heavy by any means. A nice soft visual texture to not distract from the nick knacks stored in it or the tv on top.

And there really isn't else like it on the market
I'd rate this 3.5 stars if I had the option. The quality is above-average for this kind of low-end pressed wood product. When constructed it is very solid. And there really isn't else like it on the market; it is definitely visually distinctive. On the other hand...in terms of function I have some criticisms. First, if you're using this under a big television, do your homework, calculations and measurements of the ideal viewing height for mounting the television (around eye level where you will be sitting). Then work "down" towards the floor and account for room for a soundbar (if you'll be using one under your set), and then the 16" for this unit. In my case this meant that the outlet cover was hitting one of the horizontal-running shelves in the back. Since the unit must mount absolutely flush to the wall, this was not going to work. So I had to re-mount closer to the floor than I would have liked (to make room for soundbar and tv centered for ideal viewing height), meaning the outlet was no longer in the "hidden" compartment. Ultimately not a big deal since as others have pointed out, you're probably wanting to make some "inserts" (I used some 18 5/8 x 5 1/2 pieces of 1x6 painted dark with a little knob on the front of each) to "hide" the wall behind. Why this unit didn't come with something like this--cheap little pieces you could use or not--is beyond me.I'm also not sold on the usefulness of the "hidden" compartment below, which you can only access from below (good luck if you've mounted it close to the floor...otherwise you'll need to fish all your wires/cables and components through before you mount it to the wall, then remove and remount every time you switch components around). The cutout to reach inside is not all that big, so have fun getting some surge protectors in there. Why that "hiding" compartment isn't hinged or otherwise removable *from the front* is a mystery. But even with all these hassles I would recommend the unit...just plan ahead and be prepared for more work than you might think...

Easy to put together, Mounting bracket allows easy centering on Wall
The mounting bracket does allow it to be secured to studs in the wall while allowing the floating shelf to be placed on the wall and placed where we wanted it hung. Down side to the bracket is it can be seen while sitting, it would have been nice to have some type of cover for the back of the middle shelf to hide the bracket. I will end up having to cut and paint some boards to hide the bracket. The bottoms on the middle and lower shelf aren't covered so you can see the raw unfinished MFD boards. The last negative is the height of the middle and lower shelves, they limit the size of items i.e. modem, I have to lay the modem on its side as it's too tall to stand upright on the shelves.

LOOKING GOOD!!
Adding a little bit of wood glue really made this wall stand strong. I put wood glue at all the joints and within the screws as well. The look is fantastic and it hides all the cords and power bar as well. I will be buying another for the basement soon enough. The only downside is that the lag screws that came with the unit are sized for allen keys. You are better off going to the hardware store and spending $1 on four lags to mount the mounting bar. The reason being is that the allen keys can strip the inside of the head of the screw and then you can not back it out. that's it other wise its a good product with a nice look.
