I don't think this textbook can be used in a US classroom
Not sure if the issues with this text are due to language translations or cultural deafness but, as a university professor, I can't adopt it for a classroom without changes. Some examples as follows:Chapter 4 is titled "White Biotechnology". There is no indication of why "White" is in the title. I suspect it should be "Basic Biotechnology" but that will be a hollow explanation to a class of students. On page 222, there is a sidebar discussion of Chaim Weizmann. His contribution to science is fine but the text also discusses his involvement in the Balfour Declaration. The Balfour Declaration may be considered positively by Israelis, but very negatively by any student of Palestinian descent. On page 77, there is a 2 page excerpt from James Watson on the discovery of the double helix which is fascinating, but James Watson has become a divisive figure in science education and this is not acknowledged in any way by the text. I discovered these problems in about 30 minutes, one can presume there are more issues. Hopefully, the textbook can be edited as it is a valuable textbook with an emphasis on the historical development of Biotechnology. One of the best I have ever read actually

Good info bad set up.
The book is okay. The set up is not user friendly but it does contain a lot of great information.
