Works perfectly in older cars with aftermarket receivers

This bypass worked perfectly when I connected it to my Alpine iLX-207 aftermarket receiver I recently installed in my 2006 Toyota Matrix XRS. The car doesn’t have any wire that connects the parking brake to the AV receiver. My Alpine receiver defaults to “settings adjustment unavailable due to vehicle in motion” mode unless connected to a bypass or a vehicle’s parking brake sensor cable. This bypass comes pre-set to bypass any parking brake and rear camera inputs; just connect the appropriate wires on the bypass to the same wires on your AV receiver or harness (including the power and ground wires) and you’re good to go.

Used this for 2014 FJ Cruiser to open rear window with key fob or door unlock

I just picked up a new 2014 FJ Cruiser and the funny thing about the rear window is that the key is needed in the rear door to open the window. You have to insert the key and turn it and hold for 3 seconds. This is just stupid on Toyota's behalf. So I found a nice write-up on how to bypass this functionality using this PAC TR-7 unit and use the key fob unlock button to unlock the rear window. Here is the write-up: [...]The write-up includes details on the parts needed and steps to take for the install. The programming on this device is pretty simple, once you get the understanding. You basically hook up the black and red wires as Negative and Positive, respectively, and then use the brown wire by tapping against the ground to program the unit.In my case, you tap 15 times and you'll see a red light blink for each tap. You then wait a few seconds and you'll see the red light flash 15 times you let you know what feature you're selecting. Next you just tap twice again and it will again blink each time and then blink twice again back letting you know that you selected two. Next you tap once more putting it into a timer mode and the light will blink once back. At this time if you want to program the number of hours, you can tap here, but for my purposes, I don't do anything. It will then blink twice which will be the where you want to tap if you want 10's of minutes in your timing. In my case again, I just let it keep going...and finally it will blink 3 times, for the location where you want to program the number of seconds, and for me it was just 3. Once you are complete with the settings, it will flash the light several times again and you can then hook up the PAC TR-7.Works great for me so I give 5 stars.

Capable and effective problem solving device

Between the written instructions, online material, and such, this a very capable and well supported device that is straightforward to use.The various applications map to configuration numbers that you "program" by pulsing the brown lead to ground, while applying 12V power and ground to those leads. This is not a completely obvious process, but with a suitable 12V DC (or slightly more) power supply and a morse key (or similarly-functioning momentary switch) to do the "pulsing", it straightforward enough.BTW the LED that pulses is on the PCB within the enclosure; if it is on you will know it as it shines brightly from within. This is not documented anywhere I could see but is obvious once your configuration setup is working.Other downside is that, for my "marine" application #19, (bypass of parking brake for pioneer car audio) a five pin relay was needed (only) to invert the polarity of the output, not for current capacity; this more than doubles the space required and makes the resulting solution a bit awkward, though acceptable when hidden behind console. For applications where relays are not required -- probably the majority -- the unit is small enough to be very convenient.

Works semi-well but a pain to program

I bought this to do the brake bypass (along with a relay) on a Pioneer AppRadio 1 I installed in my company vehicle. It works 90% of the time...the other 10% I haven't determined whether it is an issue with the AppRadio or the TR7. I'm not deducting a star for that as it doesn't happen enough to be able to troubleshoot it easily. What I will complain about:- Programming. Sure, if you just need the default Alpine program it must be easy. But if you need to program it to do a delayed on-off-on, it is a freaking pain in the rear. You have to ground that damn brown wire a ton of times, know the exact sequence to expect for it to signal back, and damn well hope you don't make a mistake or it is programming all over again.- Could not get it to program off of the vehicle's power. I had quick disconnects on every wire and disconnected everything except power/ground, but for some reason I was only able to do it off a battery on my workbench. I was even using the same ground point the unit was using. Just made life a bit more of a pain.Luckily, the price is right for this thing otherwise I'd give it 3 stars. They sell a laptop programmable version as well but it is significantly more expensive.

I can't get it to work....

Well, I have tried multiple times to install this on my Alpine ILW1650, it works great until I turn the car off and back on then it doesn't work anymore. I thought maybe it wasn't programmed correctly, so I tried to pulse it, it didn't work either so I am thinking it's a faulty unit. It's out of the return period now so I am stuck with it.

Works like a charm on Alpine IVA-w205

There's a lot of programming to customize this gizmo for all the various head units it fits. Extensive instructions are included. But it comes ready for the Alpine right out of the box.And that's a good thing because you can't do a proper set up of the Alpine audio/phone/backup camera/etc unless the video is working (even if you're not going to use the video) and setting up the video requires you to run clockwise around the barn twice under a full moon with a chicken in each hand... naked ..... or just wire this guy in. It's a five-minute job once you get the head unit pulled out.... everything is color-coded, so no worries.

Good for remote car starter to use OEM remote.

Not the easiest unit to program, but not having to buy a programming cable was nice. Used this to trigger a remote car starter using the OEM car remote for the door lock. Three lock pulses outputs a signal to the remote starter aux input and starts the car.

Easy install, does what it should. Everyone gets a dud sometimes.

Installed exactly like the instructions said. Worked for one day then died. I probably got a bad one and that happens sometimes. Seller is replacing for free and that’s awesome. The seller is great and works with you.

Worked For Me

Installed this a couple months ago in my Jeep for an Alpine touch-screen setup. Works exactly how I wanted it to. Was a little tricky at first to get it running and thought I got a faulty one but then after troubleshooting I found it was because the power wire was not getting enough current to trip the relay, Once I switched the power source it worked.

Modulo molto utile e funzionale

Product worked for only 2 months.

Tr7 lasted a whopping two months and has now stopped working. Waste of money now on my part.
