Easy to install and works great

Great inexpensive product you can quickly install to keep your tailgate from slamming down on older trucks. I purchased one for a 2011 GMC Sierra and bought a second one for a 2012 GMC Sierra. Works well and the hydraulic ram does not hit anything when using. Paper directions aren't the greatest but you can figure it out, a quick 2 minute installation video would be great.

The product description will tell you that it DOES NOT fit a Chevy Avalanche, but I was purchased this anyway and got it to work on my 2012 Chevy Avalanche LTZ. No modifications needed other than just following the directions. Now the tailgate doesn't slam down and the product works just as it should.

Works as described but the instructions are a little unclear on the fact that the screw and washers that come inserted in the blind nut is actually the set tool for the blind nut and is not used after installation. Quick 10 minute install.

I purchased two kits both have everything needed but the necessary tools. The instructions are for the drivers side and are easy to follow the drivers side installed easily. The second one was mounted on the passenger side the lower mount went on per the instructions the upper needs some modifications I had to remove about 1/4 inch from the side that faces to the front of the truck to get it it to fit because it is actually made for the drivers side after the modification it fit fine. I installed the second kit because the tailgate is really heavy but a second one is not really necessary.

Works great. Easy to install. Don't buy two, it works best with just one on the drive side. I installed two and had two issues. First, the tail gate went down too slow and didn't open all the way unless I pushed it down the last 25%. The main issue with having one on the passenger side was that as the tailgate opened, it would push away and start to come off. I popped the second one off and have it for when the other one fails. So, I would definitely recommend getting one of these and installing it on the driver side, which is what the company expect you to do. The mounting bracket is designed for the passenger side. The only reason I bought two was some reviews I read mentioned it. You only need one. Works great.

This shock was easy enough for anyone with a set of tools to install. It took no more than about 20 minutes and it makes a huge difference when I drop my tailgate. It doesn’t slam onto the bottom anymore, this make it fall down slower and quieter without much added noise. It isn’t intrusive either, it sits at the edge of the tailgate latch relatively tucked away so that’s a plus. I’m hopeful this will last a while given its < $10 price tag. I’ll update if anything happens but about 2 weeks with it and it’s working well

Changed my truck forever I use to have people open my tailgate and let go and my tailgate would just slam open thanks to this those days are over product good overall the screw did get rusty over time but I haven’t had any issues still to this day definitely gets the job done

Delivery was quick within 1 day. Installation was quite simple and installed in 10 minutes,only installed a day ago but works flawlessly so far, tailgate came down nice and smooth and quiet as well. I think I went overboard ABIT and installed one on each side so it could last longer. Only designed to fit the left side but works on the right as well. So far so good.
