This is one of the only kind of it's type. There are so few LED readout thermometers that show up. If you buy it for using a sensor, you'll want to get a much bigger, stainless steel cable/sensor ..., screw on wire leads. Most of all, this thing defies the odds on being accurate, but with a 18-22 inch wire with a larger, stainless steel sensor, it can be put further away from the thermometer housing.

Great little sensor. You may need to insulate the probe and threads if installing in metal duct. Wire heat shrink works well for this. Works great to help me make sure my diesel heater isn’t cooking my duct fans.

My friend said "That's cool, I want one". He isn't as picky about things as I am, but this time he was right to want one. Functionally this temperature display unit has some great points, mainly that it is accurate, which means the company took the time to match the sensor to the display unit, that quality doesn't happen through luck, it happens through caring for their customer. The sensor probe uses a moderate length stainless steel protective outer cover which is shrink wrapped to wires at the display side and terminates into the probe at the sensor side. The sensor/probe has a threaded sleeve that permits a solid contact to the material being measured, being this way a person would be able to glue a bolt to the contact area and thread the sensor into that until the probe made contact. The display itself has low power needs and is easy to read at a glance in most lighting, although direct sunlight made it a little hard to read. Mounting is made easy by having a case that is standard size and can snap into most instrument panels.

Absolutely a game changer for monitoring a wood stove flu temperature. I have a big wood stove add-on that blows hot air into my cabin. I have always used a magnetic thermometer, which I now know is a big mistake. This little digital thermocouple is way more accurate, my flu temp was 450° F when the magnetic thermometer was just hitting 300° F. It very accurately shows the flu temperature response to the slightest change in the flu damper and air intake. When the fan blower came on it correctly showed the flue temperature dropping. And best of all I can now monitor the flu temperature from inside my cabin.
