Microscope 30X, Illuminated

We live in deer tick heaven in New York's Hudson Valley. I hate 'em. Our first line of defense is diligence--daily head-to-toe double-mirror tick checks from April to October. I had a Micronta 30X for years, but a nymph tick crawled into it recently and I took it apart but was never able to get it back together correctly.When I ordered this 30X I was under the impression it would be the Micronta. Everything about this "EcoPlus", including the case, is cheaper, cheesier, and flimsier--apparently just a cheap spin-off of the Micronta. It listed for about $13.00, and it was APPALLING that Amazon dinged me $11.00 shipping for this item that weighs a couple of ounce. Amazon, I won't get fooled again....

Cheap and effective. I use mine every once in a while to view inkjet printout or to find a splinter etc. Gave one to nephew age 7 and he seemed to like it too. Looked at leaves and bugs. I looked at Radio Shack units that were more powerful but I think they were too powerful for a handheld unit. Not clear at all. I like the above 30X unit better. More was not better.

I have had one of these pocket Microscopes for years and the new ones are better made than the old ones. I was delighted to finds that they were better than ever and the price was still right in line with the quality.

Bought this for my young son to use when he looks at bugs. Works great! Affordable and a great 'microscope'

For about half the price of this EcoPLus reissue of the old Radio Shack Micronta you can get the same product, the Illuminated Pocket Microscope 30X by SE, from Amazon at about half the price. Like another reviewer I had the Micronta about thirty years ago and the lamp burned out. After using it a few years in sunlight only the product eventually fell apart. This is a handy little instrument that you might use more than you would think, but please, order the cheaper one, the SE. Order two and they will last a lifetime.

I received my Micronta 30x as a Christmas present about 30 years ago!! I just looked the item up because the bulb finally burned out and I was looking for a replacement. The Micronta comes out of the drawer 2-3 times a year for that splinter you can't quite see or the little bug you want to get a better look at. This little magnifier makes a great gift for kids (I'm 42 now and still play with it) and is a great little item to have around the house.
