Easy and Clean!!
I already had 3 Kraut Source Kits that I've been using since last summer. This was the first product I ever tried when I first started fermenting last summer. I like the fact that you can use this on any size wide mouth mason jar. This is a clean, simple, fool-proof way to ferment delicious vegetables and I love it. I can see all the beautiful veggies while they are fermenting and when I'm done, I can throw all of the stainless steel parts in the dishwasher. (I handwash the rubber gasket because I don't want to expose it to high heat during the drying process- this is a personal preference for me). I bought 2 more kits this year and I highly recommend this product to everyone. If you have any questions, contact Kraut Source as they are friendly and knowledgeable.

Works great
This was pricey but works well and feels like it will last.

Makes Fermenting Safe & Easy!
I LOVE my new Kraut Source fermenting lid. It makes it so easy to set up a ferment and keep the veggies submerged under the brine. The lid "moat" also keeps any pests from making entrance while allowing the fermenting gas to be released. I feel really good about the stainless steel makeup of the lid too, I can sterilize it before use and know I won't be introducing any bad bacteria into my ferment. My husband and I are retired and have to watch our funds and even with that drawback, we would absolutely be buying more of these as we can afford it.

Nice quality and versatile
I have tried various fermentation lids, jars, etc. Most of what I have found are lids specific to a jar size, or combination units. I like to experiment with different recipes for sauerkrauts, kimchee, etc. in smaller quantities than I would make in my big Harsch crock. What I really like about this lid (besides the obvious quality) is that you can use it on different sized jars to suit the size of the product you are making. It's super easy to use, and eliminates fiddling with plastic bags filled with brine, or weights. I like the ingenious airlock design that eliminates the plastic bubbler other lids use. Spendy, but I am going to order another!

Better than all the other fermentation caps I've tried
I love these fermentation caps! When I started out, I ordered several different types: this Kraut Source cap, one with a plastic lid and a sticky-out airlock, and a minimal rubber lid with a nipple, plus some Pickle Pebbles. I like this best, because it pushes the vegetables down under the brine. My pickle pebbles shattered in the middle of fermenting kimchi, inside the jar. I tried stones, but the weight of a stone wasn't enough to keep the contents down, so I had some leakage. Only the Kraut Source caps really did a good job. Plus, they're the most stylish looking. I've ordered two more; I only wish they weren't so expensive!

Not exactly fool-proof
Yes, it's a good design and concept, also nice that it's stainless, but it requires a little too much attention. If you're not careful, the water will evaporate from the top and you could get nasties inside. I've had better luck with the vacuum tops, especially the clear ones.

Easy to use
Love the stainless steel - very good quality on this item. Easy to use, I've got my first batch of sauerkrat working right now.

Kraut Source Lid rules!
What a cool and easy way to make sauerkraut! I know one can also pickle other vegs (both my daughters use this product, and also make kim chi which is too hot for me), and I may get to the point where I do that, but for now I am all about the sauerkraut. My first batch was great and I am now fermenting my second quart as I have nearly finished the first one. I use organic cabbage and kosher salt and feel like I am able to make a better product than I could possibly purchase.
