Melodious and Progressive Studies, Book 1, for Clarinet (B448)

Like having three books in one, so it's a thicker etude book. Good quality paper bond.However, since it's a thick book, I would wonder if the two staples will hold all the content as it ages.

Okay, it's a book of scales and etudes. A beginner will probably get more benefit from this book if it supplements a method book. If a more advanced player performs these pieces following the tempo and dynamic markings as arranged, they will get a great workout, have some fun, and possibly learn a few things along the way.Spiral, or comb, binding would make it easier to use.

The layout of this book is great! It is suitable for early intermediate level and up. I love how each study focuses on a particular key and scale, but the exercises are written like songs. Seems like it will be more interesting than standard fingering exercises. I hope it's ok to post a sample page or two - Highly recommend!

I first bought this book back in the 1980s when I was in middle school and used it and Book 2 through college (along with the classic Rose studies and etudes). While at first glance many of the studies may appear to be simple scales, this is the basis for many of the great works, such as the Mozart Concerto and provides a marvelous foundation for the budding clarinetist as well as someone who has been playing for a very long time. I highly recommend this collection for the intermediate-advanced to advanced musician!

The book arrived quickly but unfortunately with a rip across most of the front top portion of the cover. Very disappointed to received this damaged copy.

Helps me when I'm trying to teach myself how to play

This is a great book for intermediate level study. You need at least 100 hours clarient experience before use it.

I bought this book and Book 2 so that I could have a systematic method of returning to clarinet playing after a long absense. As a clarinet performance major, quite awhile ago, clarinet is not new to me. I am re-visiting books I used to use, and I always loved this book. Still do. It gives you a variety of practice, in phrasing, musicality, articulations, slurring, various keys....I use it along with scale and chromatic exercise books and really love using it.

I bought this on instructions from a very good teacher. I have just begun to do the practices but admire the manner in which many aspects of playing are setup in an attractive format that keeps the practice interesting.
