Great value, works well for VMs and ZFS
I use one of these cards flashed with IT firmware on a Supermicro x9SPU-F motherboard/server and ESXi with passthrough for a FreeBSD 11.1 VM and it absolutely rocks. Can't believe people gave it such bad marks. It's only PCIE 2.0 but then again, I got it 2nd hand for $40...

Get a fan
Great card. GET A FAN FOR IT. This thing will run as hot if not hotter than the cpu, dunno why they even sell this with just a heat sink on it. GET A FAN FOR IT.
