Taco006-BC4 Circulating Pump, 1, Color

This was the first time I’ve sweated copper joints and it really isn’t difficult. This was a replacement for an older model that burned up due to no water flow (I spoke with Taco tech support and they’re lubricated by the water). A plumber said it was a junky pump and they were going to put in a better one at the cost of $1100, hence my learning to sweat copper joints. I researched the pump and everywhere that reviewed the pump said it’s one of the best. I wouldn’t have had to replace it had I remembered to unplug it. I highly recommend this pump. It’s quiet and does the job perfectly for years on end.

Relatively easy installation (by plumber). Replaced 20-yr old pump that had failed. Very quiet and does the job. Plugged into a timer to control hours of operation. Would definitely recommend to others.

Purchased a house that had a solar water heater that had a 006-B3 installed that was not working. Went through much trouble shooting and when taking it apart it looked like the windings were toast. Ohmed out the windings and they were infact fried. Looked everywhere and could not find a replacement 006-B3 unit or motor assembly for a 006-B3. The pump is mounted in such a way that there is no way I could ever replace the entire unit, I just needed the motor assembly. Looked up the specs of the next unit up which was the 006-BC4 and it appeared that the dimensions were the same so went out on a limb and purchased one. And wouldn't you know it, bolt/screw pattern was exactly the same!! The 006-B3 and 006-BC4 appear to be the same unit with very minor changes. I had to use the original long "bolts" as they had a tighter thread than what the BC4 has and I had to use the original o-ring as the BC4 uses a thinner O-ring (these two things only effect the part of the unit where the plumbing hooks up and has nothing to do with the motor assembly). The bolt pattern, motor insert, and plate that goes between the motor assembly and motor insert are exactly the same between the 2 units!!I am very happy with this unit so far and have brought new life to a solar water heater that probably has not worked for 10 years!!If you have an old 006-B3 and need replacement parts, the 006-B4 and 006-BC4 will do the trick!!Good luck!!

The old one lasted 15 years. I left the base in place, changed the body, works great.

the pump works well, but i did have to purchase 2 new ones to replace two different water heaters in the home where the pumps went bad. when working they are great and add instant hot water to the entire house. however, when there are issues, these pumps can lead to an insurance claim. Very important to check them every once in a while as the clamp bearings can wear and cause water to fly everywhere leading to flooding and wall damage. The first ones lasted 3-5 years with no problem. However, the plumbers I spoke to said they never heard of these pumps failing. Therefore, I don't know if I was extremely unlucky and got two bad ones. or, if they require change every 5 or so years for protection.

One for one replacement of 20 yr old Taco 006-B4-1 pump used daily for solar hot water heater recirculation. Old pump had seized and was overheating. Easy install. Drained pipes, turned off eletrical power unfastened old pump (4 hex bolts) and wires and reinstalled new pump in reverse order on existing flange with provided O ring. Old pump cartridge blades had apparently disintegrated as seen in picture. Blades of new cartridge look like stock photo. (Installed pump before thinking about taking pics). Hopefully, I can get 20 years or more out of this new pump.

This circulating pump works as expected. It is a replacement for the same Taco model number 006-BC4 circulating pump which lasted 14 years.

Luckily, I had a friend/plumber who told me to order the same circulating pump to replace the one that went bad. It took him 20 minutes to do the work and now I have continuous hot water again.
