Great for the price!
I needed some ground feeders for my mourning doves. I waste too much seed when I toss it one the ground so I thought I’d give these a shot since they’re low cost and you get two. I opted for the 5-in though they do have other sizes available. After a week of seeing only one small, brave finch being king of the castle, finally the other birds started using it. Though my intent was for the doves to eat, it attracts all types of birds. Fortunately, it hasn’t gotten the attention of squirrels, opossum or raccoon of which we have many. Can’t say if mice or rats use it since it’s on the ground but if they do, they’re not greedy or messy. I haven’t had any issues w spillage or them being knocked over. Regardless of what feeder you have, there will be some spillage because birds are messy but these keep it down to a minimum. There’s nice air flow to prevent mold. I was afraid the scrub jays would dominate and bully the rest into not using it as they try to do w every other feeder in my backyard, but I was surprised to see that they were no more or less bullish than usual. The doves sometimes even puff up and stand their ground, not giving up their feeder so easily. This makes me think they are being territorial because the feeder IS a successful food source. I have a bird bath nearby which also helps attract birds to my yard and feeders. So as far as if they’ll actually use it….YES! (If you have plenty of birds around and you put it in the right place to attract them.) I filled one feeder w dove seed and they visit throughout the day while also nesting 20 ft away. I put each feeder in different places so the doves, etc could eat in peace while the scrub jays could use the 2nd feeder filled w wild seed elsewhere. I’ve had no issues so far. They’re holding up well under the scorching Cali sun. I would suggest not repeatedly getting them wet and placing under the sun because eventually the metal weakens in the joints. This can happen w soldered metal that is thin. Other than that, I have no issues and will most likely purchase another set. Remember, these are very modest $10 feeders so you can’t expect what you didn’t pay for. If you want a $25 feeder, spend $25. I think that for the price, they’re worth it and would definitely recommend.*I’ll update after winter.

Works like a dream.
I used this on rail on our deck, I tried one meant for this but the rail is too big. I tied the legs together under the rail. It works great. Only issue is that the mesh is just I tad too big for some of the seed I'm using (finch seed), I think it will be fine for normal bird seed. I'll put a bit of cloth under the seed til I switch it out.

Does the job.
Birds and squirrels both enjoyed seed from it. Durable for the two years I had it. Did show some peeling and rust after that from the elements.

Doesn't leave the feed in a puddle in wet weather
It was smaller than I thought. That's on me because I didn't really look at the dimensions. It was the purpose that I was interested in. It empties fast, so wildlife loves it! Great for the mourning doves.

Much smaller than I anticipated
A cute size but a pain to keep clean as the seeds get caught in the metal mesh.

Really helpful
We bought this to hold a small batch of cracked corn for our wild quail. We consider the 2nd one as a bonus and is held in reserve. Surprisingly sturdy and the Oregon coast rain we get easily runs through the mesh. We have it sitting on a low wood platform to keep it above the dirt. Even our wild rabbit loves this little basket - he sits in while eating the corn. Now all the ground feeders are visiting it. It's a hit. Probably time to put out the 2nd one also. Terrific value for two of them. Simple to clean. Everyone here is very happy with them.

Doves are so happy!
We have lots of birds & squirrel visitors. The doves are too big for the hanging feeders & they like the really small millett seeds. These are perfect for them. Fine mesh holds smallest of seeds & perfect height.

Great feeder for doves after small adjustments
I added three of these feeders to my bird feeder stations this fall in order to make it easier for my ground feeding birds to access seed during snowy weather. I usually fill them with a mix of cracked corn and white millet, and I occasionally add dried mealworms. They are very close to being perfect for my needs, but the feeder design makes two of these needs mutually exclusive. I like being able to turn the feeder upside down to shake out empty seed hulls before refilling the feeder. However, if I leave the feeder unsecured, it gets tipped over every day. The tipping problem is really easy to solve by pinning the legs down with landscape staples, which are very low cost. However, when I pin the legs down, I can’t clean the feeder as easily. My partner says the perfect solution to both issues would be to slide a wooden board through the curved legs to weigh it down too much for squirrels to flip while leaving it easy for a human to lift. However, I haven’t found a board the right size yet. As it is, I just leave them all fastened down and only fill them with no-mess feed. They keep the seed up off the wet ground while still being low enough that they’re always full of mourning doves, white-throated sparrows, and juncos. I’ve had them out for about 6 weeks without seeing any rust or corrosion.
