Enjoy rich, dynamic sound from your music and movies with the OMD-15 from Mirage. This speaker borrows technologies from Mirage's award-winning top-of-the-line OMD-28 to create incredibly lifelike sound with an exceptionally wide soundstage, accurate imaging, and extraordinary depth. Its sound is well-balanced and natural, with deep, precise bass and smooth highs. The OMD-15's slim design lets you enjoy this great sound without sacrificing all of your floor space. A high-gloss finish enhances the speaker's stylish, hand-crafted cabinet.Innovative technology for exceptionally open, lifelike sound The key to this speaker's expansive, true-to-life sound is Mirage's exclusive Omnipolar® technology. Thanks to the saucer-shaped Omniguide mounted above its top drivers (see "Photos" tab above), the OMD-15 can disperse sound evenly in a 360° pattern. The result: a deeper, wider, taller soundstage that transforms your entire listening space into a "sweet spot."Mirage's approach delivers a combination of direct and reflected sound that's more like what we hear in real life. It gives you easier, more flexible placement options too. You won't have to anchor yourself to one primary seat — you'll experience warm, natural audio throughout the room. Plus, the OMD-15's high sensitivity rating means that you can crank up the volume without straining your amp.High-performance cabinet design The speaker's cabinet is divided into two sections. The top section includes a woofer and tweeter in a sealed chamber for accurate vocals, guitars, and other mid- to high-frequency sounds. This chamber also includes a passive radiator to enhance bass response and improve sensitivity. The lower section includes another woofer and a down-firing port. This ingenious design gives the OMD-15 excellent bass response despite its small footprint. Each woofer cone features a patented surround for greater strength and higher power handling.Hand-polished, high-gloss piano black finishFrequency response 33-20,000 HzOmnipolar technology creates a larger, more realistic soundstage1-inch PTH™ tweeter5-1/2-inch Titanium Deposit Hybrid polypropylene midrange and 5-1/2-inch passive radiator in sealed sub-enclosure5-1/2-inch Titanium Deposit Hybrid polypropylene woofer in separate enclosure with down-facing portRibbed Elliptical Surrounds™ for greater strength and higher power handling6-ohm impedanceSensitivity 91 dBHandles up to 250 wattsTwo sets of binding posts for bi-amping or bi-wiringWarranty: 5-Year Mirage

A Fine Investment in Sound Quality
I had been shopping for new speakers for quite awhile to replace my huge Klipsch Chorus II speakers that I'd bought in the mid-90's. They still perform nicely but I needed something less imposing in my living room. I'm keeping the Klipsch for my man cave as they are superb when used with higher end amps. These Mirage OMD-15's are beautiful to look at and to listen to. I'm not yet finished breaking them in as is specified in the manual that accompanied them. This states that they should be played at lower volume for 100 hours before you push them. They arrived in very good condition as Mirage takes a lot of care in their packaging/boxing of the speakers. They even included a glove in each speaker box and a soft cloth for dusting as they do not recommend using a cleaning solution on the speakers in order to preserve the glowing finish. I am using a Marantz SR7002 Home Theater 7 Channel receiver with 12 gauge pure copper speaker wires and an LG blu ray player, a Sony CD player, and a Sony turntable as main sources for the audio. So far I've only pushed them to about 50% of the Marantz receiver's undistorted output which is loud enough for most forward applications. Even then I gradually increased the volume over several repeated listenings mainly with CD's and playing a wide variety of music. The speakers sound magnificent given that I don't have the precise wall configurations needed for their omni-polar design. The highs are very clear and the entire sound spectrum sounds very real or live with the feeling of spacial air which I love to hear in good speakers. As I stated above, I haven't really yet been able to give them a workout but I'm not that concerned. I also use a 15" powered Advent sub-woofer with a Sunfire amplifier, a one off collaboration between Advent and Sunfire back in the mid-90's that I got a lucky deal on when it was new. So I've not had to force the low end on the Mirage OMD-15's yet. I look forward to the day I can do this and I will try to remember to add details when I'm able to do this. Otherwise I'd highly recommend these speakers and I'm considering purchasing other speakers in this series. They really are beautiful to look at which helped me convince my spouse that even though they are large, they are eye catching in their own right and don't take up nearly as much space as the Klipsch Chorus II's do.

I started out with, and still have, Bose 901 series VI and although the Bose are great they actually can't match the quality of the sound that comes from these speakers and these things are not near as power hungry. Close your eyes and it's almost like being there. I'm also very satisfied with the bass that comes from these and cannot imagine, if these sound this good, how much better (if possible) that the higher priced Mirage speakers sound. Also the finish on these speakers will fit in with even the most elegant surroundings and the manufacturer emphasizes this point by including gloves in which to handle them with so you don't stand a chance to effect the finish. The only negative I have is with the shipper that the vendor chose as when they arrived I was horrified to see boxes that looked like they had been abused ten times over by the shippers employees. Moving to a new home I advised Amazon that I was not planning to open them until we actually got moved in, about two weeks, so to expect a return to be filed account of damage to the speakers. I couldn't conceive of a speaker with no damage due to the gashes in the boxes and the crumpled looking edges where it appears that several people dropped them as they made their way to me. MUCH TO MY SURPRISE not a scratch on that (close to as possible) perfect finish and the sound is, well, unable to relate in words. I LOVE these speakers and would buy them again, NO RESERVATIONS! As for recommending them that's easy. These are the only speakers I ever purchased site unseen and unheard but based on other's feedback. Thank you for those accurate feedbacks for not only was these the only speakers I ever purchased without hearing them first they are also the BEST quality sounding speakers I ever purchased, including the ones I sampled first, including the 901's. Sorry BOSE your 901's are great and exceptional in their own rights but for accurate rendition and non-coloring of the sound and ability to get the desired sound with far less power these are simply awesome.

Good sound, build quality, and aesthetics
I have just recently completed the 100 hour burn-in and would like to give my impressions this early as I believe it certainly deserves 5 stars even now. I have connected it to a variety of equipment to test synergy and also see how far it can scale with better dac, amp, etc. The best gear I connected to it was this setup: audio-gd power filter, ref 3, dac9mk3, fbi-500, and decent cables and no weak links, using fast electronic music to test speed and detail, opera music for soundstaging. These speakers are natural sounding, and mildly/moderately forgiving/unrevealing of equipment and recordings.Soundstage is less direct/narrowly focused compared to normal speakers, the massive diffusion of sound is its main strong point.Detail is ALMOST reference level, meaning used in a regular two speaker setup you don't quite get the whole picture of the music or movie. The main shortcoming is it does not do 30hz or below so some pianos sound incomplete, some deep voices miss some lower frequency nuances, rumbles in movies sound slightly off and lose a little impact. But any ambience above 35hz suffuses the whole room.Speed is acceptable for the MSRP, excellent for the <$1000 street price. Rapid electronic music is done fine except at the highest dynamic crescendos.Placement is vitally important, and should be tweaked until the soundstage size is perfectly sized. You MUST follow the placement advice as the starting point. Once properly placed, there is a huge "sweet-spot" area you can walk around in and the sound will still sound very good. For $1000 a pair, they are excellent in all fields. The weakest point is it is "good" in detail, not exceptional, especially in lower bass. If you love a more directed or narrow field of sound, you may not like the presentation of the omd15. Omd15 is about suffusing the whole room, but it does direct sound toward the listener more than older dipolar mirages. I would say they are right in the middle of dipolar and conventional speakers in terms of direct/reflected sound ratio. Dipolar sounds like ~80 reflected, 20% direct, omnipolar sounds like ~60% reflected, 40% direct, conventional sounds like 40% reflected, 60% direct.

The soundstage is phenomenal!!
Wow!!! I have a pair of Mirage OMD28 Rosewood and love it so much that I've decided to sell my os3 FS and purchased the OMD15. Man, talking about little brother borrowing technology from big brother, the omd15 don't mess around!! Despite its small size drivers: 5.5" mid with a 5.5" passive radiator and ONE 5.5" bass woofer, it hit very hard!!! The clarity is amazing!!!! Soundstage is phenomenal with lots of depth and range. My living room is basically a square set up with no obstruction whatsoever, so it's basically home for the Omnipolar to soar. The cabinet finish is flawless and the driver is made from titanium so it's very shiny and nice to look at. It actually pars up against my martin logan esl speaker!!!! Mirage ask that these speakers need ~100 hours of break in time, so I can't wait to hear how it sound after the break in period! I've read many review where people claim that it needed a subwoofer to accomandate and assist in bass performance of the omd15, I think differ. The bass is just perfect, even though I haven't fully broken it in yet but once I do it should rumble my living room wall. Same goes for my mirage os3 FS, many review claim that it lack of bass performance, my os3 FS indeed lack of bass when new but once I got about 90 hours into it, the mid and bass is very smooth. If you hear it, you won't think that those 4.5" woofers would hit that hard!!! So take it from me, not because I'm a mirage fan. I've own many other brand of speakers also, but you'll won't regretting buying these omd15 for music of movies!!!!

Just right for the Audiophile on a budget !
I probably have had over 15 pairs of speakers come and go over the last few yearsand I spend a good deal of time restoring older classic speakers, with dedicatedsystems for just about every room in the house. My first experience with Mirage wasa set of Mirage OMD 5s I dropped into my Home office system. Those OMD 5s outperformeda set of 1500.00 Bookshelf speakers I was running at the time. Ive kept those Mirage OMD 5sfor the last three years and use them daily, they have the special ability to create a verylarge soundstage with exceptional clarity in a nearfield setup. I spent about 2 yrs and wentthrough 2 or 3 different brands of tower speakers in my Multichannel HT system but nothing comparedto the Little Mirage OMD5s I had in the office so I purchased the OMD 15s for fronts in the HT.They are excellent throughout the entire Spectrum, the Lows are astounding for such small driversthe mids are clear with vocals on par with speakers costing 3 times as much. The upper range is verygood also, not on par with ribbon tweeters but very good at this price point, in fact I would saythe price for these OMD 15s is amazing for what you get.Mirage,s OMD line/design has the abilityto sound good anywhere in the room without the need for a sweet spot.A+ for the SoundstageB+ for ImagingA for the overall SoundA+ for the fit and finish. If your looking room filling speakers with high end sound on a Budget I highly Recommendyou give these a try, my only regret is not buying my OMD15s sooner !

Excellent Value!!!
I've had these speakers for about a month now. I have the glossy rosewood finish and am in love with how they look. They look way more high end than than even the original selling price suggests. More good news comes with the sound. I did as much research as I could before perchasing these and read that they lean more to warmth. I agree. I am not a fan of bright speakers and definitely prefer a warm sound when listening to music. I decided to get these because of the current price they are going for, the reviews, and the aesthetics. I am happy with my purchase and recommend them to anyone looking for great sounding speakers slightly warm speakers who are not looking for Electrostatic-speaker type transparency.

Sound and look way more expensive than I paid for them
These are incredible speakers ! I got them at $399.00 and consider myself very lucky. I have been eyeing some Martin Logan Motion 40's but these are so dang good, I can't justify spending more money. I just don't think I can get better speakers without going way up in price.I have mine bi-amped with a Yamaha RX840 receiver and legend speaker cables. Paired with a Martin Logan center and sub.I noticed they are almost gone and even at $699.00, good luck finding something better !
