THE ABSOLUTE BEST COOPERATIVE GAME EVER
This game is brilliant. It is NOT for beginners, as there are lots of instructions. Our family plays lots of cooperative games and this one is a standout. It is well designed, clever and interesting. We recommend going in order, starting with season 1, then season 2, THEN season 0. The storytelling aspect is also brilliant. You will also want to set aside some time to delve in and focus on it for a month or so, or an intense week. We played about half of season 0, then stopped because Life, and had to buy it again and start over because too much time had passed and we forgot the storylines and details. But we excited to re-start! The Pandemic Season series is an all-time favorite in my family.

Best addition to the Pandemic Legacy series
I’ve played through each iteration of Pandemic, it’s expansions, and the legacy seasons thus far. Each season has its own distinct feel, with enough things changing between them to make gameplay fun and fresh, and this season is no different. In fact, I believe that this season is the best season of the series. Season 0 brings the game back into more familiar territory, effectively setting up the Pandemic story arc. Players of seasons 1 and 2 will quickly begin to connect the dots to some longer story arcs in those seasons; but this does not diminish the game or story for those whose first Pandemic experience is Season 0. The gameplay in Season 0 feels more closely related to the core gameplay of Pandemic Season 1 or the normal board game, as opposed to Season 2, and I think that’s a good thing. There are some really interesting mechanics that are included that, in true Pandemic legacy fashion, seem inconsequential at first, but are vital later on in the game. Identities have some much needed depth, and the mechanics related to these are very very cool. Season 0 is great for new players dipping their toes into the Pandemic Legacy experience, and provides enough new twists and turns to keep series veterans happy and occupied, and looking forward to more.

Second Best Pandemic Legacy
First of all, ALL of the Pandemic Legacy games are must buys if you enjoy the original Pandemic. The product quality is fantastic, the storylines are compelling, and even casual players will beg to play one more game. My favorite of the seasons is season 1, which I think had the most twists and the most satisfying payoff. This game has a lot of interesting moral choices and can spark good debate among players. That said, the way these choices resolved didn’t feel consistently meaningful, and you were sometimes punished for a “wrong” choice. The game excels at creating atmosphere, and the ability to create new aliases with customizable appearance appealed a lot to my artsy side. It made the occasionally tedious setup something to look forward to! Overall review: 9/10 - If you liked any variant of Pandemic or the other Legacy games, this will thrill you!

Great game.
If you liked any of the previous Legacy games this is well worth it. It's like the beginning before the virus began.

Best Cooperative Board Game
I would give this game a 10 star review if possible. This is by far the BEST cooperative board game I have played. The whole theme is so immersive and the storytelling aspect makes you want to play the next game just to find out what happens next. It has a good level of difficulty that isn’t so easy it’s boring, but not too hard that it’s impossible. I’ve played it twice and would 100% play it again. 10/10 recommend to any board gamer!!

We are halfway through the game and are really enjoying it. If you like Pandemic type of games, this is a good one. It can be stressful at times making the right decision. You have a lot of choices for your actions so it’s good to play with someone that you can talk these choices through with. There is a great amount of storyline that grows as you play. Rather than diseases spreading as in 1 and 2, here you mobilizing teams of agents (but not too many) to search for a source.

Not the best, still good
I do think the other two entries in the series were a little more enjoyable. This one felt less Pandemic than before. But super high quality pieces and stickers, easy to learn, and everything was there. Note: Not replayable!!

My middle daughter is 16 and usually ambivalent about board games at best. But in completing this she said, "That was really good. Can we get the next one?" Which given her usual nonchalance is probably worth more than the loud acclaim of all the more usually enthusiastic Board Game Geek pundits put together. Speaking for myself, I found each game so intense that I don't want to play the next one for at least another year. But that, also, seems like veiled praise when I stop to think about it. How many board games make you feel so invested that the experience can be described as "intense"? For now, we've moved on to Journeys in Middle Earth. It's less intense because the effects of winning or losing any game within the campaign is a lot less pronounced than it is with Pandemic. I'm not going to describe the game and the mechanics as such reviews already abound. But I hope that this description of our experience is helpful if you're wondering whether to bite the bullet on this game that you can only play through once (well, 12 times or so) before throwing it away. Worth every penny, in my view, and highly recommended. That said, here's a final caveat. I think you should probably be reasonbaly proficient at board games in general, and regular Pandemic in particular before giving this a whirl. We did quite well but our group had a strong contingent of veterans. I got the impression that if an inexperienced group played, the game might be a bit merciless to them. And if that were to put them off, it'd be a crying shame as this is, in my view, a masterpiece of a board game; wonderfully conceived and superbly executed in every way.

I still enjoy the standard Pandemic, and we've played through Seasons 1 and 2 of Legacy. Part of me feels these Legacy games are overpriced, particularly given that you can only play through it once and it has zero resale value. But the reality is that a ton of thought and production goes into these games. The instructions are amazing, with very few flaws. That's counter to most games, which leave so much up to interpretation. I've only played through the prologue at this point, but I can already tell that this will be at least as good as the other two seasons.
