I recently purchased the solar robot kit for my son. The AESGOGO STEM 12-in-1 Solar Robot Kit is a fantastic educational toy for young inventors. It allows kids to build 12 different types of robots, sparking creativity while teaching the basics of solar power and engineering. The instructions are clear, though younger children may need some help with assembly. What makes this kit stand out is its reliance on solar energy—no batteries required! This encourages hands-on learning about renewable energy. The variety of models keeps kids engaged, though some of the more advanced robots can be tricky to put together. Overall, it's an excellent tool for encouraging STEM learning in a fun, practical way.

Gift to be given to a 10-yr-old boy in September. The gift arrived with one corner of the package torn up. It sounds as if all parts are tightly packed. I do not believe any fell out.

Overall, this is a pretty nice kit allowing you to build several different robots. The instructions are relatively easy to follow and the parts in the kit are well organized. The powering of the robot with the solar panel/solar cell is great as you don't need to worry about batteries or the weight from a power source as the solar cell is extremely lightweight. In my opinion where this kit went seriously wrong however, is the execution of packaging the parts.The robotics kit is listed for eight (8) and above and it has full directions and labeled bags for the given parts. All of that sounds great until you open the packaging with younger children only to find that all the parts are connected to plastic sheets and you need to free the parts and sand each component with a file to remove extra plastic nibs. It is you (parent/uncle/aunt/adult) that get to deal with an impatient child and you are left to remove all parts and place them in the correct labeled baggies. This process took almost two hours to get all the parts/pieces in their labeled baggies as well as build the robot's head and motorized body.Pros============Good instructionsSolar powered - no need for batteriesFlexible in that there are multiple robots that can be build from the componentsInexpensiveCons============Parts not already separated from plastic sheetsKit not in "Assemble Ready" conditionI understand that the parts are shipped this way and it is often cheaper and more efficient thereby keeping costs down, but I would have rather paid a little extra for the parts being in the bag and the robot being ready to build/assemble. There is nothing wrong with the kit or taking things apart, but I would have done things much differently had I known we couldn't build the robot as soon as I opened the box.If the robot had been assemble ready, meaning parts were separated and in their corresponding bags like Legos I would have definitely given this unit five (5) stars.

Great Solar Robot for kids to play with

This was for my 10 yr old grandson. He had a great time building it and keeps it on display. Instructions were clear. Materials great quality for the price.

Once assembled the core robot, the gears move. However, once the wheels or legs are added and placed on table or floor, it does not enough strength/power to move.

The 10 year old birthday girl loved it.

I found this item on sale and decided to try it. It advertises strongly as solar: learn about solar, etc. but the solar cell provided does not work. After putting a meter across the cell in various conditions (including direct sunlight) and finding virtually zero output, I decided to wire in a separate battery pack I had on hand instead so that at least my kid could see the rest of it function.Using battery power the rest of the system does work, and the plastic parts are ok. The directions are a bit tough and parts difficult to assemble at times (especially for young kids), but I overall it does work.Too bad the item doesn't function out of the box though, you shouldn't have to provide and wire in a separate (not included) power source for something that claims total solar function.
