This is an AUTHENTIC, GENUINE raw, unrefined Kokum butter obtained from kernel of Kokum ( Indica) a tree from Western Ghat India wild-harvested by tribal people & villagers in the forests. Unrefined kokum butter is made on traditional way by pressing the kernels of the fruit to a dough, than warmed up to 100-110 F to separate the oil(butter) from the solid matter, filtered and cooled. The darker color is due to the natural enzymes and phytophenols found on the fruit, which brings also its therapeutic properties. Mechanical extraction method of Kokum fruits yield around 25% of Kokum butter while the /solvent extraction the yield around 44% hence cheaper than unrefined Most of commercially sold Kokum butter is solvent extracted, ly refined, neutralized, bleached, deodorized and often modified with the help of s and solvents, therefore traces of s and solvents do remain in the refined Kokum butter.
