Exfoliating Facial Cleanser, with Pineapple Enzyme and Aloe Vera, 8 Oz (Packaging May Vary)

This face wash really does live up to Alba's claims! I have very large pores on my nose & chin and just above the brows.....even at nearly 60! TBO it's embarrassing. I have olive skin which was oily with shine in the T zone from puberty on up until around 45, throughout which I've tried everything to control the oil and shine without 100% satisfying results or stripping my skin to feel tight. I shower every morning and by noon, hello shine. (sigh) Then at 50 the T zone shine reduced greatly. I still get lightly oily all over my face but with dry patches on my cheeks and outer brow bones, but as I said the pores are still there. The one thing about my oily, olive skin is that severe wrinkles have been delayed! I do have some fine crows feet and wrinkles on my forehead, but I consider myself very lucky in that department at this age. Needing a good face wash, I immediately looked to Alba for it's formulations. I prefer to use organic products as much as possible, and I have always liked Alba's products. But I decided to research for other options, including a brand recommended on Celiac.org, because I also need gluten free. (Found that out in 2008) For me personally, the less steps in skin care, the better. I was not finding any other option that met my standards and goals, so I bought this face wash for the pore refining attribute and I felt that all boxes are checked, including affordability. I just received it yesterday and I used it before bed. It did not strip my face or make it feel tight, and my pores reduced greatly! Now, I am a "wash cloth" kind of gal because I have always felt I get a better clean, and I can't stand water running down my forearms and neck (unless I'm in the shower) but last night I decided to splash to wet and wash with my fingers instead, to test this face wash by following the directions. I also used the oil free face cream (for the first time, too) before bed, but with concern that my pores will open back up. Let me tell you, this morning, my pores still look fantastic, and my face is not oily, but dewy!! I am so very happy! My cheeks will need extra attention especially since it is still winter, but they do feel so much better! The scent of this face wash is lovely, very light and airy, as expected from Alba. I have always loved Alba's products, and I'm not surprised that this was the best option for me. The bottle had leaked in the bag some during shipping, but it was full and the liquid was minimal. Easy to wash off. Why fuss unnecessarily only to defeat the purpose of my 5 star review? I highly recommend this face wash! It makes washing up a positive experience because it actually provides results!!

I have used Alba products for years, this face wash being a staple in my skin care routine. I need something gentle yet thoroughly cleansing before I apply any other products. Honestly, I have always gotten compliments on my facial skin, and I believe a good cleanser contributes greatly. Considering the prices of many skin care products, this doesn't hurt the purse at all.

I've used this for 20+ years. This product does well with people whose skin does well with acids. I love this cleanser and will continue to purchase. I have typical dryish combo skin, and it does a beautiful job gently exfoliating my skin using acid instead of sand or beads. It is just like salicylic acid but natural! It's more of a gel than lathering, but does create some bubbles. It's also so gentle but effective I can use it on my scalp, which has genetic cradle's cap if I don't balance the wash/dry well. I have no problem with red spots or stinging on or near my eyes. Anyone with slightly more sensitive skin: again, I have combination skin, that is slightly dry. Do NOT leave the acid on very long unless you want a face mask. It does do that as well, but you have to recognise your own skin qualities. It lasts for a couple months but I use it every night plus sometimes for my hair. I bought 2 and those will last probably the whole year for me. You don't need to use much on your skin. I was a little curious as I am a fan of Alba Bontanica products such as their unscented, very emollient body lotion ( which I will be reviewing next) and their face and body scrub. Packaging: I found it very cute and tropical. It is in a pump bottle which is easy to use and worked properly. In my own opinion, I think that it dispenses too much product, as a little goes a long way. So I'm careful not to use a whole pump full. Scent: Tropical, you can definite smell pineapple but it's not over powering like bath and body works scents can be. It is a light, pleasant scent. Performance: Went on and rinses off easily. It's not great at removing eye makeup so I'd suggest using eye makeup remover or what I used is pure apricot seed oil and a cotton round beforehand. My face felt clean afterwards. All in all I think this is a good product. I didn't have the greatest first experience with it as I would have liked. I did sprout some tint whiteheads following my first and second use. I would use caution if you have sensitive or oily skin. For some reason my skin felt a little oily the next morning so I've been using witch hazel after washing with this facial cleanser and it's helped a lot.

It totally makes skin look younger,I'm not kidding But make sure To moisturize well afterwards, especially with dry skin. Personally I buy this cleanser over and over again. I have probably used this for nearly 20 years and it is so wonderfully scented and exfoliant, I don't use it everyday as I have dry skin and it will be to drying for me but I do use it several times per week and it is an absolute Godsend! I cannot recommend this highly enough, 10 Stars if they allowed it, lol! Try it, you will like it!

Update: after some time, still fairly happy with this product. It doesn't take ALL mascaras off as I was hoping - I had switched to a NATURAL brand called Essence Lash Princess and it doesn't remove it all from my face. My eyes yes, but not my skin without a cloth to rub some. Also I'm not happy about the giant price increase. This product has gone up almost $3. That's too much. Therefore I'm shopping around a bit for other items to have on hand waiting to see if they'll price drop. First time trying this product but I had read some good reviews about it so I gave it a shot. So surprisingly impressed It was worth writing a review. First of all it smells wonderful. Texture is somewhat thick - not watery at all. But not so thick you're going to go through the bottle fast. It's very gentle on my skin. You don't need very much to clean your face. But what I love the most is it removes my makeup in one wash. That includes my mascara which is the L'Oreal Paradise mascara. Not the waterproof but regular. Still this is amazing. I'm so impressed I've already bought a second bottle, going to put it on my subscribe and save as a regular item as long as it's available. Either way, I will continue to use this product because it is good for your skin and it actually does clean it without washing it twice. Very reasonably priced too... you can't ask for more. Well, I am happy anyway :-).

I've purchased this before with no issue. These most recent 3 bottles arrived in January. I just opened one this week and it had a weird, musty/moldy smell. I checked the other 2 bottles and same smell. I have some of the last batch in a travel bottle and I smelled that one in case it was me but it smells pineapple-y and normal so I threw all 3 of these away. Of course the return window is closed so I'm out the money. Very disappointed.

I used to LOVE this cleanser, but the bottle I just bought isn't what I remember at all. The pineapple enzyme cleanser smelled amazing and left my skin soft and rejuvenated. This bottle has a chemical smell - not pineapple at all. The product left my skin red and blotchy and I am a Black woman who doesn't typically get red or blotchy at all. I'm not sure what changed, or if I got a bad batch. I will try to return it. Very disappointing experience with a product I used to love.
