Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind [Blu-ray]

A really amazing film, and the best picture quality and packaging. I love the steelbook for this one. The one I ordered didn't include the booklet about the film, but I was able to contact them and they sent it to me. IMPORTANT: It should be noted that this newer Shout Factory version, which is based on the 2014 Japanese release, has a darker, cooler image than the Disney version. I've seen comparisons and I'd say this newer one has better overall image quality, but if you want a warmer, brighter tone then you should opt for the Disney release. Both have their pluses but the new Gkids versions look a bit more refined from what I can tell, and are more consistent with the other films, such as Princess Mononoke. If you want to get into the Ghibli films, this is a great place to start.

While technically not a Studio Ghibli production, all of Miyazaki’s trademark themes are present that will pop up in his later works. A great piece of science fiction!

It has that nostalgia feeling. It's like watching a 80's / 90's anime/cartoon as a child feeling. One of many favorites to re-watch and share with kids if you have any. Quality is great. I didn't know i was getting a blue-ray dvd & regular dvd. Which is great because not everyone has a blue-ray dvd player.

Bought this for a friend as a gift. The steel case is very attractive, and comes wrapped in plastic to protect it. Would gift again.

Hayao Miyazaki’s 1984 film, “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind,” adapts Miyazaki’s 1982 manga of the same name. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic future, 1,000 years after the industrial age ended due to toxic spores spreading across the world, making much of the Earth uninhabitable to humans. New, mutant insects have spread across the world, often coming into conflict with the human settlers. Nausicaä, a princess in the Valley of the Wind, works to protect her people by diverting the insects away from the valley and preserving the toxic jungle so that spores don’t land in the valley. This tenuous balance is thrown into chaos when a neighboring kingdom’s airship crashes, incurring the wrath of the insects and spreading spores. The kingdom invades the valley, leading Nausicaä to discover more about the fragile ecosystem of the future. Miyazaki’s film includes much of the environmental messaging that appeared in later Studio Ghibli works while incorporating some of the visual styles of manga directly to the screen. Indeed, several scenes look like they are animated manga pages rather than the anime style used throughout the film.

Was delivered on time and beautifully wrapped in plastic with no dents in the steel casing.

This is one of my favorite anime. Hayou Myazaki is a master. Nausicca is a beautiful soul and she is also very adept at leadership and survival. She has a mean streak when necessary but she’s also very empathetically vulnerable to the horrors of what mankind can bring. The movie is a great story that takes you to a time that may yet come to pass. I watched this when I was 12 and instantly fell in love with anime, now it’s 38 years later and my three girls have seen it and instantly fallen in love with it. The story is amazing and the animation art fantastic. I like this collaborated version from Studio Ghibli and Disney but I also have the older 1980s version which was re-titled Warriors of the Wind. It was made for western audiences as a vhs rental and was very highly produced. To me both versions are great. But the SG/D version captures the real story. All in all the steel book Blu ray is a nice feel. I like it very much. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes high adventure and animation. A solid 10/10.

j'ai acheté ce steelbook car c'est un de mes films d'animation préféré ! à aucun moment sur la description qu'il es indiqué que le blu-ray et le DVD ne peuvent être lus à une certain région en bref la je suis en France et je ne peu pas lire le blu-ray et DVD car je ne me trouve pas au Japon j'ai achetez ce produit pour rien je suis dégouté... si c'étais précisé dans la description du produit l'aurais pas pris pour rien... j'ai une blu-ray et un DVD inutilisable... limite j'ai juste acheté le boîtier 44 euro foutu en l'air car mal indiqué dans les description.

これは、スチールブック仕様のNausicaä of the Valley of the Wind [Blu-ray]のレビューです。 私が重視していたのは、 1:価格 2:日本国内のハードで再生できるか 3:画質 4:音声解説があること の４点です。 1の価格については私が購入した時は2,670Y程で、申し分なし。 2についてはレビューされている方がいましたが、SONYのBDレコで問題なく再生できました。 DVDはリージョンが違うため再生不可でした。これは当然なので問題なし。 3の画質、これは国内版BDを持っていないため比較できませんので地デジとの比較ですが、ほぼ同等か若干、クリアになっています。冒頭の腐海に沈んだ村のシーンでうっすらとモヤがかかっているのがわかりやすく感じました。 4:Amazon商品ページの登録情報には表記がありませんが、片渕さん・庵野さんの音声解説は健在。 「アニメージュとジブリ展」で原画を拝見しましたが、あの大きさのセルをフルHDにしたのであれば、現時点では納得の画質です。いずれ4K化も為されると思いますが、それでもBDが欲しい方、国内版が高いと思われる方は買いです。

私のパソコンで再生できるかちょつと心配でしたが問題なく再生できました。やはりDVDと比べると 文句なく画質は良い。昔レーザーディスクを中古屋で見つけオークションで風の谷のナウシカの ディスクを高価で買いましたが、どちらが画質が良いかと言うとブルーレイの方が若干上回る 気がします。このアニメはとにかく面白いの一言に尽きますし人間への警鐘の意味もあると思います。 アニメでしか描けない世界を切り開いた宮崎駿監督に称賛をおくります。

Great condition, no dents or damage! Favourite Studio Ghibli film! Both DVD and Blu-ray play great!
