My wife always turns on the bathroom lights when she needs to go in the middle of the night. This always wakes me up because I sleep on my side facing the bathroom and I'm somewhat light sensitive, so when I saw this item come up on Prime day I took a chance on it. I'm glad I did.It's kind of lightweight, and the underside where you insert the batteries exudes a bit of an air of cheapness, but once it's set up, it does the job. Ever since I set it on a cabinet shelf in our bathroom I have slept peacefully throughout the night.The light is not that bright. You cannot read by it, but it IS bright enough you can see whatever you need to see to get the job done. If it doesn't sense your motion for a while - about 15 seconds, it shuts off, which can leave you in the dark if you're in the middle of a stand-up type of operation, however, a wave of the hand, or any other part of your body, will turn it on again.The light has three settings off - on - and motion detection. I suppose you could use the on switch if you're using it for an emergency lamp, but for the most part all you need to do is leave it set for motion detection. If a light is already on it doesn't turn on, which is nice.How long the batteries last, though, is anybody's guess. It takes three AA's. Since the light is an LED I would guess a set of batteries will last a long time, however, the circuit DOES have to stay active to detect motion, so it's really not so cut and dried. Time will tell.If you have areas in your house where people are sometimes traipsing about in the dark, this is probably a good item to have.

nice and bright using it on motion detection mode. Not sure of the battery life since I just received it. Did not order with a remote control. For the price very well made.

This is an excellent little night light that I use in my home for my elderly dog. I like that it is free standing so I can move it easily from area to area. It is very stable with a very low footprint. I put a couple of these along a hallway on auto so they turn on as my dog walks down the hall as she is old and gets disoriented/stressed when she cannot see and being 17 her eyesight is not great. I like that it gives a soft warm glow so that it doesn't disrupt our circadian rhythms and it does give off enough light to be a nice bedside light if you want something sleek and affordable.My one gripe is that I wish this could be recharged. We use rechargeable AAA batteries, but it would be so much easier if this was rechargeable. I also wish that the font for the on-off-auto label was a little easier to read, but otherwise it works great and we have purchased multiples of this lamp

This lamp is very minimalist in design. When you enter my home, it’s hard to see before you can find the lightswitch, so this motion activated lamp is fantastic as it lights up as I open the door. Also, at night, when I’m passing through, it give me light instead of me turning on the light, which there’s no point since I’d have to turn it off there too.It doesn’t turn on when it’s bright inside, only at night with lights off.

This night light is one of the Best Buy’s I’ve had on Amazon. I needed a new one because mine stopped working. However, I see in my history that I bought it 7+ years ago. I am completely happy with the price point and it lasted that long. It’s perfect for our little toilet room inside of our bathroom. Lights up when you come in and goes off when you leave. Nice and dim as not to wake anyone up. Batteries last about 5 months.

I should give this fewer stars, since I bought two and one of them died after a few weeks. However, they worked so well for my needs that I'm about to gamble and buy a third one instead. I wanted something for both the stairway and the bathroom in the middle of the night, when overhead lights are too bright or would wake someone nearby. It's perfect for this--not too bright but bright enough to safely see where you're going, and with a sensitive motion sensor. This light would go through batteries too quickly if you kept it set to an always-on night light or put it in a dark area with heavy use, so I wouldn't recommend it for those applications. Also, some people are saying the motion sensor isn't working well enough, but I wonder if they have something blocking the sensor or don't have it aimed the right direction, because mine works really well, picking up motion within a 270-degree range.

I have ended up buying 7 of these over the past few years. I love them. The only reason why I bought more was to put them at my parents house so I don't fall over things at night.
