smart high chair for the price! Rated A by mother of 4
First, this item was extremely easy to put together. It's true (as stated in another review) that there are only pictures to put it together, but my 12 year old son was able to assemble without the directions, so I'm sure anyone could do it with ease. I was originally looking to get the baby bjorn highchair, but after reading reviews, and watching video reviews I didn't like that the baby bjorn didn't adjust in height or in seat positions. As the mother of 4, I know exactly what I want in a high chair. 1. it has to be functional. meaning: it needs to recline, have adjustable heights & straps, use with/without the tray, and easy to move. Phil & Teds does all that. True, it doesn't have wheels, but that doesn't seem to matter.( If it had wheels my other children would be riding it around the kitchen I'm sure.) I can move the highchair from the kitchen, to the dining room to the living room with ease so baby can be part of the family, no matter where we are. (we have hard floors, no carpet). 2. It needs to clean easily: I LOVE the removable foam pad, adjustable straps & strap covers, removable tray & tray cover. Our baby is 3 1/2 months old, and fits in this highchair perfectly. BUT there is room for him to grow, and almost EVERYTHING on this highchair is adjustable, including the foot rest. Most other high chairs on the market are hard to put little babies in, and work only with babies 5 or 6 months or older-- causing them to eat in a uncomfortable position, slumped over. I can see our little guy growing with this high chair, and having no problems. For the money this high chair is perfect. Smart design, and functional details on this high chair make all the difference!

Disappointed
I was so excited for this chair because it was very contemporary looking and fit in with our decor nicely. We've been using it for about two months now for our seven month old son but I am very disappointed with it. My biggest complaint is the tray. You must use two hands to put it in place and to remove it. Also the groin post (if that's what you call it!) is attached to the tray so you have to move quite quickly to get the tray in place. My second issue with the tray is that it only has one position horizontally. You can't slide it closer or further away from the baby. This would make it possible to take the baby out first and then clean off the tray. You are forced to deal with the tray first. It also seems like the tray clips can be a little testy. We've had to fiddle with them the last few days to get it in place so I'm dreading if this gets worse. These issues really came to light for me after a two week visit to my parents. They have an ugly, hand me down high chair but it was so much easier. The tray on it slid out to three positions so was easy to get him in and out. Best of all, you could do the tray with one hand. Our son also loved sitting in the hand me down and would actually sit and play for 20 minutes at a time while we were all in the kitchen. He hates sitting in our Highpod and fusses to get out the minute we put him in until we take him out. I also totally understand another poster's comment that he can't see out the sides of the Highpod. It looks like he is in a little cocoon and maybe that it what he doesn't like. The tray is also very small which I thought I would like for teaching him to eat in a small area but the tray area on the hand me down was great for him to play with his toys for a bit if I needed to do something quickly.Overall, I am very disappointed with the functionality but am giving it two stars because it is very pleasing aesthetically. Everyone that comes into our place comments on how cool the Highpod looks. But don't be tempted by the looks! I'd recommend looking into another high chair.

Still loving this chair
I almost didn't get this due to some of the negative reviews, but I'm so glad I did! I'm honestly not sure what people are talking about in regards to this being too small and their kids outgrowing it prematurely. My son is a huge baby (95th percentile for height and weight) he is 7 months but really the size of your average 18 month old and he is not even close to looking like he will outgrow this thing in the next year or two. In fact I still slip him in and out without even having to remove the tray! I did a ton of research for baby products and had some very specific things I wanted in a high chair;1) high chair that could be raised and lowered to fit table or my kitchen island.2) easy to clean and disinfect (tray fits in the dishwasher easily) no fabric to stain and retain smells.3) safe for an infant to be in while I did chores in the kitchen. The pod has three positions and can fully recline to accommodate a sleeping baby.4) something that was wasn't going to be a hideous eye sore, as my house has an open concept living/dining/kitchen and I prefer minimalist modern design. This looks great and although it doesn't have wheels (safety hazard) I did put soft furniture glides on the bottom and can easily push the chair on my hardwoods without damaging the floor even with the baby in the chair. There are a couple of things I wouldchange if I could:1) I wish the bar that goes between their legs was attached to the char rather than the tray.2) the tray does require two hands to attach and it and it would be nice if it didn't.3) I wish the top of the tray that comes off to wash was a bit more secure: my son can easily pull it up when he wants: I may get some double sided tape or put a 3m sticky on in the future as I can see this being an issue.Overall I love this chair and despite some of the minor annoyances mentioned above I don't think there is any other chair that met all of my requirements and is as aesthetically appealing as the highpod!

Looks nice, but not functional
I purchased this high chair because I liked the modern design and several of the features that I read about in reviews. However, now that my 7 month old is into solids full swing ahead, I am regretting my choice. Yes, having the height adjustment is nice, but we eat in the same place so it stays at one height all the time. The one piece design for the seat is also nice, but the 5 point harness design/material is terrible to keep clean and is virtually useless because the space in the pod is so small there is no way a child is getting out of there....so I took the harness off and my life is easier now. The idea of the tray that comes off and goes in the dishwasher, also nice, until your child realizes that it just sits on top of the attached tray without clipping in at all and they can just flick it off whenever they please. The attached tray also sits at an angle towards the child so if you put a plastic plate or bowl or anything on there, it will just slide forward. The tray is also super tiny....I realize they have a snack tray that is larger, but good luck trying to get one and it probably doesn't snap on either. Aside from all this, there are small seams in the plastic arms of the tray and exposed screw heads, which again, collect food and spending time with pokey objects to try to get it out everyday is ridiculous, but it is unsanitary and dirty looking to leave it in there so this is my life right now. I bought this highchair before I had a baby and realized how they eat and how food gets everywhere between them touching and grabbing everything to trying to suck on everything....had I waited I would have chosen a different chair. I would return it, but since I bought it so early I am passed the deadline so all I can do is pass on my experience. It does look nice though.....the base is huge....you can't tell the size from the picture. Happy eatings!

This is a very good high chair to fit next to our breakfast bar ...
This is a very good high chair to fit next to our breakfast bar and seems well made all apart from the removable top tray which does not fit snug enough due to a manufacturer defect and so our boy can lift this too easily resulting in him sending all food etc crashing to the floor! We are having a long battle with direct2mum resolving this issue!!!!!

We love this high chair
We love this high chair! Baby can sit while we prepare meals. Good to start with at 4 weeks old. The base isn't that large. Don't worry if you have a good size kitchen. Maybe not suitable for a small apartment. Nicely designed and shipped in two days! What a great purchase.
