General Electric WB2X9883 Microwave Charcoal Filter

Just what I needed. Fit well! Helps with odors well!

Apparently this filter was not put in when the microwave was initially installed by the contractor. So we did not know exactly where it went, and the angle to place it. Wish there was some instruction/ a diagram that would have made it quicker. It appears to be a good filter, but will know for sure after some use.

Seemed somewhat light and not very strong. I question how long it will last. Not a lot of charcoal.

I'm giving this 5 stars even though I didn't use it. I ordered this with the part number shown in the owner's manual. I didn't open the microwave to install it until I received the replacement. Following the instructions in the manual on how to install it, upon opening the top of the oven I found that there was no filter. The space for the filter as shown in the manual was too small so it couldn't be installed. A reply from my e-mail to GE support said that if the oven was vented to outside, the filter was not required for this model. My oven is vented so I didn't need a filter. Why wasn't this noted in the owner's manual? I requested a return label from Amazon and have mailed it to the seller for credit.

Was shipped in a plastic bag, instead of a box so frame got bent during shipping. Not as thick as old filter it replaced. Very little filter material in it

Cleaning my over-the-range-microwave, and I realized that I had no charcoal filter installed (didn't even know it was supposed to be there). Looked up the factory part and decided to go with this option from Amazon. Totally the right choice. "Authorized" vendors had this part for much much more. Fits perfectly, and was an easy replacement.

Not very good compared to the GE original that came with the microwave. The original had a sturdier frame, a "grille" on each side of the filter, and the carbon pad in the middle was 2x-3x as thick and dense. Since one of the main functions of this filter is to filter out odors via the charcoal pad, you will not get much mileage out of this replacement filter compared to the original. You get what you pay for.

Or at least mine is, though it's not obvious. Don't expect this to come in packaging that says "GE", even though it is a genuine replacement part. This tripped me up, I thought I got a knockoff because my unit said "all-filters inc" on it. Turns out GE doesn't make these filters, they contract with a few companies like All-Filters Inc. and Columbus Industries to supply them.
