We have a large garden area surrounding a 2-level patio that had been let go for over 10 years when my elderly mother lived with us. Last year, we decided to clean it up but it was so overgrown with weeds, honeysuckle bushes and trees that had grown from fallen seeds, the task was insurmountable for 2 people in their late 70's. So, we hired a landscaping company to clean it up and to remove all of the unwanted bushes and trees. $7500 later, the garden area did look nicer even if they had removed some of the trees we wanted to keep and cut back and trampled on most of the hostas, brunnera, and other perennials.This year the weeds came back with a vengeance. The wild raspberries, honeysuckle bushes, and trees had been only cut back to stumps. So, they were all growing back. Since the raspberry bushes are shallow rooted, they were easy enough for me to dig out. While I removed weeds a section at a time and transplanted some of the perennials as needed, my husband dug out some of the smaller stumps, but some were just to large to remove with a shovel and a pick..I found out about Bonide stump remover on a YouTube video and decided to try it on some of the larger stumps. This stuff really does work!! Using the brush applicator it doesn't seem like you are using enough, but you don't need much to kill a stump. We had a grapevine climbing a walnut tree that had a 3" diameter stem attached the tree and growing at least 50' into the tree. I pulled it away from the tree and cut it off with a saw at ground level. Then I applied Bonide Stump & Vine Killer to the stump. So far, this vine has not regrown or sent out new shoots. Still haven't figured out how to get the dead vine out of the tree, though. I have also stopped new growth on a walnut tree stump and a few honeysuckle bushes. Fortunately, the landscaper left a 2"-3" stump in most cases, so I cut off the top 1"-2" and apply Bonide to the fresh cut. This is important as the cut needs to be fresh for the stump killer to be absorbed by the stump to kill the roots.So far this stump and vine killer seems to be working and has help quite a bit in the cleanup of our garden area. I would recommend this product, but make sure you apply it to a fresh cut. I have added a couple of pictures of the patio garden and a couple other areas after cleanup to give you an idea of the size of this project.UPDATE 11/12/24:It has been over 3 months since I treated a number of bush and tree stumps in addition to a few huge vines that were growing up our trees. At this point, I have seen no new growth on any of the stumps and vines that I treated with this Stump & Vine killer. This stuff really does work.I hope this review was helpful for you.

Had some bushes cut back but kept having to trim new shoots that wanted to grow. Saw this product and thought I would try it. It works! I cut the new shoots and immediately "painted" the cuts with this stuff (two coats). It has been several months and still no new growth. So glad that I don't have keep cutting back these shrubs.

It seems alright, but what is very annoying is the included brush is small and takes a very long time to apply on larger stumps. The brush poorly soaks up the product making it tedious & time consuming for every cut. I'll update within 2-3 months to see the full effect of this on several weeds on my property like Siberian Elm (Ulmus pumila), Norway Maple (Acer platanoides), Sycamore Maple (Acer pseudoplatanus), and Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima). I would recommend everybody to replace these species with desirable native trees to their particular part of the country like American Elm, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, Bigtooth Maple, Sensation Boxelder Sycamore, Quaking Aspen, and such. These trees are extremely invasive and compete with native vegetation once they escape from our lawns. If this literally does nothing and requires re-application to most or all of these trees, then the product is trash, and I'll look elsewhere for it.UPDATE OCTOBER 7 2016Looking back at the trees that I've cut down and painted over with herbicide here are my results.- It's completely useless on English Ivy (Hedera Helix)- No resprouts at all from Norway Maple (Acer platanoides)- No resprouts at all from Sycamore Maple (Acer pseudoplatanus)- No resprouts at all from Siberian Elm (Ulmus pumila)- Heavy resprouts on Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima), but repeated applications fully killed the stump. It will also send sprouts up to 20 feet away from the stump.I think a higher concentration of triclopyr, possibly up to 20% could be more effective.

I used this on established invasive Himalayan blackberry bushes that are so dense and tall, I could not dig them up. Instead, I cut them close to the ground, leaving 1-3 inches of stump, whatever I could reach. These bushes were very tall, some going 10+ feet. I did not pour or spray these all over the area like the instructions said-- be careful, this is a herbicide which is basically poison! I dabbed it 2-3 times on top of the fresh stump I cut and left it alone. I was hopeful last year with all my hours of cutting and pulling their vines out so I could reach more that these will at least grow less vigorous the next year. Well, the 'next year' came this summer and to my pleasant surprise, the entire patch that I applied this stuff to did not grow back a single vine! My only suggestion is that there's got to be a better applicator design, protecting the bottle from accidental spillage. I was so afraid of knocking this bottle down on the ground and spilling this stuff everywhere that every time I cut 1-3 vines, I would open and close this bottle, making it inefficient, but it was to be safe. Perhaps designing something that soaks and dabs, like a sponge applicator on the top where you can just turn the bottle sideways/upside to dab.

This is great if you want to take care of your lawn and get rid of your small stumps. It will work on larger stumps long term. It is good for getting rid of the annoying vines.

Good use. It works well for my bush removal of remaining stumps.
