For reference this are costco size TP rolls. I added felt pads to the back shelves to hopefully keep it from scuffing the wall. It is going to wiggle but easy enough to add more stuff to secure it. The wood is darker but I expected that from the reviews, I'm not too picky and I know wood very rarely matches exactly. I personally don't mind a little variation. Overall I like the size and the fact the shelves are wide enough to actually put something on it securely. If you live in an earthquake prone area, you already probably have velcro to secure stuff down with. IT'S CUTE and functional.

These shelves are built sturdily, but they are not finished very well. Don't brush your hand too much on the surface, it's pretty rough. With that being said, you install them once and then don't touch the surface again, so who cares! I think they look great, and really helped tie my apartment living room together! Would recommend, may even get another set for my bedroom!

The wood is a darker shade than what is advertised in the photo, but you can really transform it to something cute! The wood feels sturdy but the rope might be a bit flimsy, so be careful. Overall, it’s cute!

Pre-assembled= Immediate use is the most important thing I am going to stress. I tore open the box, banged a nail into the wall, hung this sucker up, and it's still in place and the display items have all been safe.Spend the extra pennies by purchasing this pre-assembled, puuuleeease! The competitor I purchased from (the 2nd & 3rd photos attached) didn't even mention that it was unassembled and here is my experience with that rigamarole. It was a brisk December day... How much of a big deal could it possibly be, right?Measuring tape, marker, and a knot.... you'd think it would be a 1, 2, 3 done deal, right? Pfffft so did I. No matter what, something, somewhere "just wasn't right." I gave up on the adorable idea of two shelves because it was just NOT precise enough for items to safely be stored on. Buying unassembled kept this idiot busy for 3 days. .....then it happened ... The jute (or sisal) started to fray. Oh.... Fuuuu.... snap! As I'm schlepping to the store, I have my head in my hand in disbelief that I've been engaged to a shelf for so long as a Hollywood marriage. Now that I have all this extra jute/sisal, I break for abandoned shelving! With the right drill bit, measuring tape, marker, and a drill and you could do this yourself faster than I wrote this review. Such a beautiful and unique shelf! It was super easy to install, sturdy and the shelves are of a thick wood (not some flimsy junk). Helped my girlfriend set it up and she LOVES it! It would look good in any room in any kind of environment and it’s definitely a conversation piece. Would buy again!

I am sure someone with a decent eye for decor and interior design could really use these!! I could not. They looked tacky on my wall—like they didn’t belong. They also look cheaper and duller in person. I think if you sanded them down and maybe de-stained them, they’d be wonderful. They are sturdy, though. I think if I was considering making some myself, I would just buy these because there is not much of a price difference between these and a diy project. If I had the time, patience, and skill, I would have made these look nice and pretty. However, since I don’t have any of that, this type of shelf is not for me.

I’m very happy with the design of this shelving unit. I have it in my half bath and love it.

First, the box was all ripped up. The shelves seemed like they were scrap wood. They weren’t sanded, super coarse, and damaged. They also didn’t hang straight and look nothing like the image. Don’t waste your money! You’re better off finding some pieces of wood, drilling holes, and threading rope through them yourself. It’ll probably look nicer. That’s what I’m going to do.

Had to return as it was nothing like pictured. Came as 3 seperate shelves.
