Excellent for light duty, occasional print jobs
An excellent choice I think for light duty, occasional print jobs, so it gets five stars for that use case. But this printer is not for frequent jobs or big jobs, mostly due to the tiny ink cartridges that will suck you into ink extortion hell.Basically, when you buy a printer, the big consideration is whether you pay more up-front for large ink capacity--so called eco tank printers--or pay for ink over time with small ink capacity printers such as this one. Low cost printers are subsidized by the recurring sale of consumable ink; that's how printer manufacturers make their money. For my light duty use case, I have chosen the latter option. If you have a heavier demand for output, you might want to choose the first option. But aside from this one negative, this is a moderately price printer with a lot of exceptional features for occasional light duty print jobs: it features a motorized automatic slide out paper output tray that stays out of the way when you're not printing; a true duplex (double-sided) scanner; a single sheet rear paper feeder; and a modest desktop footprint: And on mine, a automatic sheet feeder that keeps the paper square and does not skew it–perhaps I got lucky there. It even has a template for printing on recordable CD/DVDs, if you still use those.Note: the UX is not great; the touch screen easily mistakes a swipe for a tap, which is annoying, and the navigation system is a bit awkward. But such issues are rather par for the course; electronics manufacturers in general do a rather poor job at UX, so I don't fault the manufacturer too much there. Navigation is, however, fairly responsive, and this tend to be rather sluggish in general for electronic equipment, so a minor prop there.

Happy with customer service.
I’ve had this same printer for a number of years and when it finally gave out, I bought another one. That’s my product review. This review is about customer service. I ordered my printer and it arrived in about 10 days. When it arrived I noticed that there was a gouge in the box and the installation software cd was smashed. The interior packaging was all intact and undamaged and the printer itself looked to be in perfect condition. When I went to set it up however, I kept getting an error code which suggested something was wrong with the ink carriage. I made numerous attempts to resolve this problem through firmware updates, software updates, and work arounds, but I always got the same error code and direction to restart the printer. So I repackaged the printer and returned it. The return process went pretty smoothly with one exception… the return policy requires that you PRINT a return label to return a printer that doesn’t print. The UPS store helped me out with this, and my account was credited in full within just a couple of days.I reordered the printer, it arrived in about a week and installed quickly and easily.

perfect size for small desk
I chose 4 stars because I just installed this printer this morning and haven't done enough printing to give a fair report on the print quality. installation was simple and quite fast. (one review I read stated that installation instructions were unclear and hard to accomplish, I did not find this to be true for me, perhaps if this is your first printer some things could be confusing) I absolutely love the Epson printers, from my first dot-matrix in 1990 to my recent 18 yr old R-380 I no longer do custom print jobs, but still do a fair amount of color flyers and signs, etc. this printer fits nicely on my desk in the same spot the R-380 sat - love that the paper loads and prints from the front, making it unnecessary to pull the printer out to load the paper.

I wouldn't recommend this printer to my worst enemy. Here's why.
I have owned this printer for 4 years. If you need to print less than 10 text-only pages per year, this may be an okay printer for you. Otherwise, avoid this printer (and all others like it) at all costs. If someone tells you they will pay you $1,000 if you buy this printer, do not accept it unless you plan to use it for target practice in which case that would be a great deal. Why do I despise this printer with such intensity? Why would I not recommend it, even to my worst enemy? Why do I waste time daydreaming about packing it full of Tannerite, pouring gasoline on it, setting it on fire, tossing it from the edge of the grand canyon and shooting it as it falls clumsily through the air?#1 - You will spend so much on ink that you may have to file for bankruptcy or at least apply for government assistance. Hundreds of dollars a year, easily.#2 - Want to print only black and white and have plenty of black in in the printer? No problem! Just make sure you buy all the color ink cartridges first. Seriously, while it is unreliable and inconsistent, 95% of the time it will not let you print BLACK AND WHITE ONLY unless the COLOR ink cartridges are plenty full. Hmmm... wonder why that is?#3 - Its wireless printing capabilities are completely unreliable.#4 - After a couple of years of use, the print is uneven, smearing here and there, random lines getting printed. In other words, quality is not great.#5 - It acts like it can be used to print quality photos. Maybe... just keep in mind the cost/picture is probably about $2 given the exorbitant price of ink and how much it uses.#6 - Multiple times when I have needed it most (like today), it has played trick #2 from above on me, putting me in a real bind.

Easy set up
Only unit I could find that had a port for SD card. Also port for USB for use with my collection of flash drives. I’m 85 and I set it up easily. Now I can print from my IPhone. Using it without a computer. Great copies and picture quality.
