Yup, this takes time!
First off, men, believe the other reviews. Despite what you may think (that you'll be able to beat all those amateur times), this WILL take some time to assemble. And yes, there will be a few dings and chips since this is just veneer on particle board. But overall, once completed, this is a nice piece of furniture that hides all the clutter (even better, we switched to HDMI and optical cables and ditched 8 other bulky cables so things are REALLY uncluttered). My first piece arrived dinged upon delivery (the visible finish is packed facing the outer cardboard for some reason) so back it went. UPS suggested also calling Amazon to speed things up and both places were highly cooperative. Still, my UPS guy wasn't happy lugging the 134 lb. parcel up my driveway, then having to come back to haul it back to the truck (the 2nd piece he just left at the door and never rang the doorbell...luckily, I spotted it casting a shadow on my porch; perhaps he didn't want me to send yet another 134 lb. parcel back!). Remember, these guys canNOT enter your house so if you're not that strong or have a bad back, buy some of those easy move sliders to at least get it into your main room (and you're going to need a LOT of room). Upon opening the package, notice that many of the pieces either have a letter sticker or a letter painted on the unfinished side...you'll be referencing those often. Check your bag of screws and parts...some of the screws are brown and some are black but they do look somewhat alike; sort them out NOW and work in bright light (and have your variable drill/screwdriver ready and charged). I guarantee it will save you precious minutes when digging for that "eighth" screw jumbled in the packet. It's there so don't cuss and search your garage for another replacement; check in the hinges and small corners of the bag and you'll likely find the "missing" piece. And take your time! This is one of those large pieces that seems to have an endless number of parts...study the schematics! The pre-drilled holes are generally pretty good so that a trim that looks identical to another will probably fit on only the correct piece (in other words, don't go crazy and start forcing the screws into the piece...stop and take another look at the diagram and make sure you have Piece A and not Piece B, its twin). By the end, or about 3 hours later if you're really patient and not too easily frustrated, you'll be staring at a nice piece of furniture to put your gigantic TV onto. Average amount of twisting in screws; and if you only have a handheld screwdriver, it'll be fine (it's what I used but looking back, I would have been better off with one of those portable screwdrivers that don't tighten as much as a drill). Once assembled, put the monstrous thing on your sliders (the same ones you used to bring the box in from the porch) and slide it into position and leave them there (they'll act as coasters and protect your carpet or make it easier to move should you need to paint or whatever...not sure if those sliders would work on wood floors in which case you can just use part of the cardboard box it came in). All in all, a terrific piece for the price...just check the box before accepting delivery (as mentioned, the visible piece is facing the outer side of the box so if you have a tear or cut, make sure it hasn't gone into the wood or you'll be putting on the final piece and going, "#$%@%!"

Very good looking with minor issues
Every time I have a new visitor, they speak a lot about this beautify piece of furniture. Here is a quick summar of its pros and very few cons. Very few would know that except for a one or two tiny pieces of solid wood, everything is hardboard/ laminate. What matters is the look and that it can take the load of my electronic equipment.Pros====1) Beautiful rich look and color.2) My 55 inch TV looks great on this3) Very easy to assemble (if instructions followed properly). Assemble close to the final location (the unit is heavy).4) Moulding on all the edges look great5) Bevelled and shaded glass panes add to the richness in appearance.6) Even with the hardboard material, this piece of furniture is quite sturdy.Cons (may not be applicable for everyone)====1) Depth of front shelves is very less, primarily because there is the cables have to be literally twisted up to go out of the punched holes. My audio receiver is about an inch out, because I dont want to break the cable heads at the back. If any cable gets unplogged, it is a pain to see what is going on at the back. An alternative is to cut rectangular holes in the hardboard at the back. However this may affect the stability of the furniture.2) The two side shelves are good for hidden accessories. However they are not wide enough to hold a blue-ray player, or any wide device. If you have more than 3 audio/video components, you will have some difficulty using the side boards3) The top surface is indeed a smudge magnet. You can easily see finger prints or smudges, and so require daily cleaning.4) During the assembly be very careful at about the last steps. There are four screws to fit the top front moulding. There are three types of screws and if you mistake the size and pick any of the longer two sizes, you will end up punching holes right through the moulding. The shortest of the three screws is required. I mistook the size and took one size bigger. By the time I realized and replaced them with smaller, the damage had been done. Though I cant see the bumps from a distance, if I go very close, I can see them clearly.

Love this series of furniture!
awesome have matching desk fits my décor perfect. Very wide (enough to fit 60") but thin enough as to not take up whole livingroom. Easy to put together. No scratches or missing pieces. Instructions weren't the easiest to follow but not hard to figure out.

Not worth the price
Item arrived very poorly packed and therefore was damaged. Paid a higher price than others on line so expected higher quality. Person who assembled it has built and assembled many furniture pieces made of wood. When he assembled it, i noticed that all the edges showed the particleboard. The unit looks great in the photo but is cheaply made. So instead of being the main piece of furniture in the living room, it will be replaced and moved into the basement.
