African Gankogui Bell Set - Iron Double Cow Bell - Set of 3, Large Medium and Small from Ghana

Of the bells I received only the large bell matches the official photo description. The middle and smallest bells have wooden handles attached which changes the sound of the bells when struck with the sticks provided. I removed the wooden handle from the smallest bell and discovered that the wooden handle was covering a malformed metal stem. I suspect the middle bell has a similarly malformed stem too, which is the reason for the addition of a wooden handle. As another respondent mentioned, the bells are not tuned in any sort of way, but do make interesting sounds. I would not buy this set again.

The pitches and tuning of the bells is random, and some of the bells are not in tune with themselves, so they have this whining, clashing effect. Not fun to listen to. Only one of the bells sounds pleasing to the ears. Also -- due to the bad tuning (or lack of tuning rather) -- the smallest bell is LOWER pitched that one of the larger bells. But I still might recommend these, because you might get something that sounds decent. If you're willing to take a chance, go for it. If not, then keep looking!

I always loved the sounds of these Agogo Bells from Togo and wanted to own my own. Very special sound that is raw and a nice contrast to the manufactured bells of the same style like from LP and such which has a more refined, polish sound.They project good too! The set of 3 adds more color to whatever I'm doing with music of many forms. I put duct tape on the handles to keep the raw iron from oxidizing on my hands in humid conditions when I play, they will rust so try to keep them in a dry play when not using them.
