Great Big Book of Prompts
Every writer should have a huge book of writing prompts within easy reach, and this book delivers. The best part about this book is that the prompts aren't just recycled, half-baked ideas that you can find by doing a Google search on writing prompts. The reason I did not give 5 stars is because, number one all of the prompts are numbered individually per section - it would have been helpful to have a running list for Kindle purchasers who want to "pick a number out of a hat" (or use an online random number generator). Secondly, the book says that it has creative writing exercises and plot ideas. However, the book only has poetry writing exercises. And, the "plot" ideas are embedded in the prompts (not actual plot ideas). So I found that the sub-title of the book is slightly misleading. To reiterate, this book only has writing prompts with about 100 or so poetry writing exercises. Nothing else.

A must-have for any writer's library.
There are some times as a writer when the exact thing I need is to borrow someone else's brain for a second to see things from a new angle or add an outside take to a plot or a scene that I never would have come up with on my own. I often talk through my books with my writing group, but when they're not available, this book is the closest thing I can get to that experience.Bryn's brain, and as a consequence, this book, is packed full of story sparks and prompts to set your writer's mind off in new directions. There are prompts to help you begin a story. There are prompts by genre (fantasy, sci-fi, horror, mystery, romance, YA, historical fiction, general fiction) as well as prompts to spark ideas for characters, setting, and dialogue. As an author who often writes retellings, I particularly loved the section with plots from European fairytales and mythology, Shakespeare and classic cinema. The prompts based on the senses were another a favorite of mine. And lest you think this book is only for fiction writers, Bryn also includes a substantial section with prompts for poetry, blogging, and autobiographical stories.I'm so glad to have this resource on my Kindle and carry with me always.

Got my creative juices flowing as never before
I am absolutely blown away by this book. I had recently roughed out a book that I'm preparing to write as a prequel to my trilogy, but I couldn't figure out the right opening scene. The very first section of this book proposes 50 opening scenes. By the time I had gotten through the first 5, I already knew more about the roles of my main characters, and by the time I got through all 50, I had not only found more exciting openers than I could possibly use, but I had fleshed out scenes throughout the whole book. When I went on to fiction plots by genre, my jaw dropped. I have enough material here to keep me writing novels for the rest of my life. Highly recommend!

Super Book!
I cannot describe how much I love this book! It's loaded with amazing prompts and ideas. Honestly, if you run out of something to write about, it's only because you stopped looking through the book lol... it's THAT loaded! There's ideas and prompts for just about anything you can imagine, and you can get even more ideas and prompts just by changing up the ones in the books to include this or that or the other... it's just an overall fantastic resource. I'd give it a 10 star rating if I could! I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs ideas on what to write about. A perfect resource!

Excellent Resource
This is an excellent resource. I was tired of typing "writing prompts" into the search bar on Pinterest and getting the same results, or just the plain wrong things. Within the first section (I hadn't even reached my genre yet!), I had three new ideas, and several ways to get unstuck in some projects I had put to the side. If you're a teacher, you'll definitely want to pick this book up for your classroom. So many ideas.

Amazing Writer's Resource Full of Inspiration!
I didn't realize how much I needed this book until it was sitting beside me during a writing session. Now it's permanently in my writing bag. When I can't find a word, I open MASTER LISTS. When I can't get a feel for what happens next, I open WRITING PROMPTS. With 5,000 prompts, the inspiration is endless meaning that no writing session ends in frustration or disappointment anymore. It's like having a friend sitting across from you saying, "what if your characters did this?" Bryn's writing is so positive and unerringly helpful that it feels like she's rooting for you to write and write your heart out. No need to get lost searching online for plot, scene, or character ideas when you can open the paperback and get back to work with instant and fresh inspiration. If you're a writer or blogger, get this book now and treat yourself with instant inspiration!

If you write words, you need this on your shelf!
I'm not really into most writing books because I don't like to think that I need help getting ideas. But wow, this book is a gem. Donovan packs so much into this one volume. Everything from prompts to get you started to hints to get you out of plot holes. It's not a book to read cover to cover. You can just dip into the section you need and then get back to WRITING, armed with new ideas and creative workarounds. Whether you're a newbie who's working on a first novel, or if you're a seasoned professional, you'll get something out of this guide.

Fantastic!!
I am currently reading the following books: '5,000 Writing Prompts - A Master List Of Plot Ideas, Creative Exercises, And More. + 'Master Lists For Writers - Therasuses, Plots, Character Traits, Names, And More' both books are by Bryn Donovan. These books are non fiction. Both of these books are packed full of advice and Ideas. There are creative writing exercises to support writer's block. Also, there are many Ideas to support a writer to find plots and subplots for their next novel. In addition, Bryn has provided a detailed Therasuses to support 'Show and Not Tell'Abouselty Fantastic!!I would highly recommend these books to any writer, especially beginners.I am writing my first novel, and these books have made the process easier and more enjoyable.Bryn's writing is clear and to the point. The only downside is I would have found it increasingly helpful if there was more on emotional descriptions, body language descriptions and and facial expression descriptions.I would recommend using this books as a reference whilst writing or editing.

Brimming with life-changing potential!
This is such an easy-to-read and no-nonsense book of prompts that can help absolutely anyone in their life, no matter what their artistic discipline. There are literally hundreds of prompts and questions later in the book (past the spades of also-excellent fiction writing prompts) that deal more with self-reflection, which I found to be especially intriguing and eye-opening. In fact, I firmly believe at least these aspects of the book could be of huge benefit even to people who don’t call themselves creative, yet want to bring more passion or clarity into their lives somehow.I personally can’t wait to properly reap the benefits of Bryn Donovan’s compassionate, fun and creative writing — and that’s just after skimming this book in one evening! I really highly encourage you to try this book out if you’ve come this far!
