What is the difference between the glurak black hunter and the obert black hunter, other than the price, they look idenitical?

It looks like this one has flat limb butts and riser compared to the shaped ones which are different for both recurve and longbow originals.

What is the recommended brace hight for the 40lbs longbow?

Mine is 55#, but should use around the same brace height. Mine is at 7 3/4". It will vary slightly depending on your draw length and arrow weight. You could start there and add or subtract a little depending on your set up. Should be able to find some videos on tuning your bow. Hope that helps.

brace height is 8 1/8" with no line twist so it will not be able to go lower that 8 1/4". Did I get a defective bow?

8 1/2 is about right so maybe add a few twists or you could get a new string 1/2 inch longer to add more twist. I recommend shatterproof archery.
