Works great if you're careful. Totally worth the strong stinging sensation!
This was the first time I've experienced an epilator, although I have waxed and used tweezers for many years. I used it on my face (cheeks, chin, jaw, upper lip), and it worked great! I'm glad I got it. It left my skin completely free of hair. That said, it does hurt. Actually, it stings -- a lot! It didn't bother me, but I know people for whom it would be too much. The sensation is different from the pain of pulling off wax strips. I found this surprising because both methods pull the hair out by its root. It also left my skin a little red for three days. Right after I used it, the "apples" of my cheeks were pink, like flushed in a pretty way from hiking in hot weather or drinking half a glass of wine. For the next two days the redness was less, but was slightly mottled. The day after that, it was all gone. I believe my good results have to do with technique. I carefully followed the instructions that arrived with the unit. The instructions were clear. A couple of hours before I used the epilator, I washed my face with soap, then didn't put anything on it. When using the unit, I pulled my skin very taut, held the unit at a right angle to my face, and skimmed it over my skin being careful not to press it onto my skin. I think I got a little pink on the apples of my cheeks because they're more difficult to stretch taut and so maybe the tweezers touched my skin there a little. After I used the epilator, I very gently wiped my face with witch hazel. For the next two days I washed it gently with soap, and followed with witch hazel. I tried very hard not to touch my face where it was pink. Even if you keep your hands "clean", they have a lot of bacteria on them. I also cleaned the epilator as instructed.

Way back when I was just a child I found an epilator in my grandmas linen closet. I was certain that it must be a torture device. It was so scary looking. I never asked about it, or touched it for that matter, I just mentally noted the scary metal jaws that were just waiting to tear me to shreds. I am a much more mature adult now and unfortunately after two kids and creeping up on the door of menopause the peach fuzz on my chin and upper lip has become more robust and darker. Laser treatment/electrolysis is out of my price range. I grew weary of waxing, chemical hair removal, and plucking. OMG...what if I could pluck more than one hair at a time. Wouldn't that be amazing?! I started, on the down-low in my incognito window, researching facial hair removal. (Because of course my husband is blissfully unaware that women have body hair. Yeah right! However, I do still feel a stigma for female facial hair). Anyway, epilators kept popping up in my research. Back come the memories of the torture device in grandmas closet. I took a deep breath and purchased the most reasonably priced epilator with the best reviews. I didn't want to really invest in an item that I was sure was going to be buried in my own linen closet for my grandchildren to discover and have nightmares about. Boy was I wrong. This little guy is super effective! It's not pain-free but you do build up a certain tolerance for it. It removes hair efficiently. I'm left with smooth skin without chemical or wax irritation. It does miss a stray hair here and there but pair it with a good pair of tweezers and you'll be ready for your closeup. I do wish that it was rechargeable instead of battery operated. Maybe I'll look for that feature when this little guy meets his maker and I have to purchase a new one. PS...I have not been brave enough to venture below the face. I'll update if I do!

Good machine, wish is had a charging cord.
Please understand that I am someone who regularly has used an epilator for the past 5+ years on my arms, legs and bikini line. (The one I use for that is Emjoi brand, "Soft Caress" anD I love it) but it is about 2.5 inches wide like a shaver so I wanted something small and delicate to use on my face. I first opted for the $70 Braun Face Epilator Facespa Pro 910. I was willing to splurge on a more expensive product because it was for my face, but it was awful- had plastic components and did not pull hair whatsoever. I returned it and opted for this cheaper epilator because it actually had metal components. At first I thought it was useless because i tried it on my arm and knuckles and it did not remove hair at all. I was just about ready to return it when I went ahead and tried it on my face and was surprised to feel that I could tell it as actually pulling hair out. I had to move the epilator much slower and be more deliberate with my stroked that the larger Emjoi I am used to using, but after carefully spending about 30 minutes up close to a magnifying mirror I could tell it was working. The next day my face felt smooth and I could see it had worked. Compared to my Emjoi it is definitely weaker and slower going, but for my face I needed something more delicate and with patience it definitely works. Compared to the $70 Braun one I bought it's worlds better. I do wish it picked up hair a little better on the first pass and I wish it was not only battery operated, but it does work and I do give it a solid 4. Save your money on the products that cost double this one and just get the emjoi!

Bring back the old model
I have re-purchased these for years and the current one that I’ve re-purchased in the last month is not as good as the old model. The old model plucked every hair, the first pass. The new one barely plucks any hairs at all. I thought I got a defective product but looking at the reviews the new models aren’t as good.

Deja muchos vellos, sólo los rompe y si tratas de quitarlos acercando las pinzas a la piel terminas quemandote como me pasó porque no se le puede disminuir la velocidad .

I used this as soon as it arrived and I love it. Took care of those fine facial hairs and not too painful to endure. Very happy with this item!
