This Works Nice
Some vehicles you can't just buy a set of GTS light covers for. Or you spend 3x what a stock light housing is to buy a custom ones. The VHT lens tint is a cheaper way to get a custom look. There are a few ways of painting your light housings, but I would rather remove the light housings off the vehicle in sted of masking half the car to keep the over spray from getting on your paint. Plus you can get a better even coats of paint when having all the parts in front of you. I did the taillights on my 05 Mercury Grand Marquis, including the lenses on the trunk hood. I first cleaned the lenes with wax and greas remover. Masked off the areas I didn't want the spray tint to be painted on. Gave all the paintable areas a light wet sanding with 600 grit sand paper. Now the lenses have a dull look to them. Now youjust gave something for the spray tint to grab on too. Clean again with wax and greas remover and wipe dry with a clean rag. Look to make sure there is no dust or hair on the parts you are painting. I found 3 light coats of VHT lens tint is more then enough, but if you want darker add a few more. With the parts laid out in front of you and clean, spray light even coats on all parts. Make sure you put the same amount of spray tint on all parts or one part will look darker than the other. Your light housings will look like they have a gloss to them. This tint will dull out to a flat black. If you are looking for a flat look, like your car is a flat black this will work for you. I like the custom look so I bought the VHT SP515 Quick Coat Clear Acrylic Enamel. If you use this clear, when the tint is dry to the touch but not harden give them a light coat of the clear. I did 3 light coats of clear, spraying when the clear was tacky. Let dry over night and put the lenses back on the vehicle. Remember the more coatsof tint, the darker or harder it will be for others to see. Also, check with your town or state. Might have laws against lens tints.

You can make amazing candy apple red!
Paint it gold first. Then spray it with the red clear-coat and you have a beautiful candy apple red. Spray again a couple more coats, you get an amazing candy brandy wine.

Good coverage and work well
I liked how this product resurrected these 60 year old tail lights look "very good", You must absolutely follow the directions precisely. You must fix all the basic problems with your light lenses before using this product. it makes them look good but not perfect. Also like any autobody work you must "clean prep prep prep, clean" then wipe down with a pre-paint / degreaser solution then you can spray. This stuff will run if you lay it on heavy so spray several light coats, I did 3 coats with 15 minute between each coat I also sprayed the inside with 2 coats. For me this was a great product it revived these old lenses to my satisfaction. Original lens (before painting} shown on car, other 2 pictures are after restoring and painting

Perfect Lens Tinting - Professional Results!
VHT SP999 Nite-Shades has delivered exactly the translucent black finish I wanted for my automotive lens covers! This specialized coating creates that perfect smoked look while maintaining light transmission for safety and functionality. The application process is straightforward with excellent spray pattern and coverage. The paint goes on smoothly without runs or drips when applied in light, even coats. Multiple thin layers build up to the perfect translucent black depth. What sets this apart is the translucent quality - it darkens lenses beautifully while still allowing light to pass through effectively. The finish looks professional and uniform, creating that custom automotive appearance I was aiming for. The durability has been outstanding through weather exposure and regular use. The coating adheres perfectly to plastic lens surfaces and shows no signs of peeling, fading, or deterioration after months of outdoor exposure. The coverage is excellent - one can handled multiple lens covers with product to spare. The specialized formula is designed specifically for automotive applications, which shows in the superior adhesion and finish quality. The final result looks like professional custom work rather than a DIY spray job. The translucent black creates exactly the right amount of tinting without making lights too dark for safety concerns. This lens coating has achieved perfect results for my automotive customization project. Outstanding specialized product that delivers professional-quality finish. Highly recommend for anyone wanting custom lens tinting!

too dark/not transparent at all
I last used NiteShades around 2004 and it was perfect. This can was way too dark and basically just black paint. Completely opaque with one thin coat.

Does the job well. Nice shade of 'true' red, but color does fade in direct sunlight. Recommend clearcoat to preserve gloss.

I bought this to spray some incandescent globe lightbulbs thinking they’d stand the heat. They do not.
